Subject: And I'm back . . .

. . . hey, guys! So I haven't been on this site in about . . . I don't know, six months? That's a long time. I know. I had knee surgery and kind of fell by the wayside. I mean, I had never actually competed in a triathlon, anyhow, I was merely trying to pretend that I was training. And I WAS! Until the knee surgery.

But I am back. I can't really run, though, so I am going to attempt to insert my PT in where the running portions are?

Any tips? Encouragement?

Thanks,

Gloria

Water jogging. Ask your doc if you can do it. You don't even have to lose out running training.

I am definitely allowed to water jog. That's a good idea.

I can empathize to some degree............I had knee surgery many years ago.  My doctor said I had the knee of an 80 year old man and that it was not a matter of if I would need a knee replacement it was just a matter of when.  Well I lived my life "babying" my "bad" knee until a year ago.  I decided to train for a tri.  This past June I did my first event and my knee has never felt better.

Don't give up!  You can do it.

can you swim?
i barely kick anyway when i swim so maybe you can- its great for cardio and upper body while you get the knee ready.

when will you be able to bike?  can you do maybe an exercise bike with no tension and just get used to the circular movement for you knee?

i hardly ever train for the running part- my knees are bad and my doc says to run as little as possible.... you will be fine

keep us posted on what you do!  we'll get you to finish a triathlon for sure!

Thanks, froglegs. Ah. Old friends. Sniffle.

Anyway, let me be more explanatory with my situation. I CAN run at some point . . . the fact is, I have been lazy building up my quads. SOOO . . . my doctor said that I am supposed to "bike my a*s off" and swimming is no problem except that I am not supposed to do the butterful or crawl really.

I just e-mailed a few coaches in my area (I just moved for school) to see when they're practices are. I really do need someone kicking my butt. I'll be honest. And, as of now . . . I don't own a bike. Haha. SO I am going to join cycling classes at the gym, etc., for now. I won't have my knee ready until spring, anyway. Sooo . . . this is my plan? I totallys should jog in the pool, though.

Woohoo!!! I am going to surf the forums now. How I miss this website.
