Subject: RE: Austin 70.3 October 5th, 2008I did this race last year before it became an official 70.3. It was a very well organized event then so it should be off the chart this year. Fan support was awesome as was the race support. It felt like you had a 1 to 1 ratio when going through aid stations with the volunteers getting you whatever you needed. Not gonna lie about the course though if it's the same one this year. It's friggin' hilly. Front part of the bike is awesome. Rolling hills and some nice curvy sections that you can fly through. But you pay for it on the back half. And the finishing hill on the bike is just plain mean to put you through that on mile 54 (if I recall correctly ). The run is pretty up and down also. And that finishing hill on the bike, well it's parallel to a section of the run so you get to run that hill not once but twice as it's a figure 8 loop. Hey but at least the swim is flat and you don't have to exit the water to do another loop, which I hate doing. But as mentioned, the volunteers are pretty much insane trying to keep your spirits up and motivated. Good luck and have fun to whomever does this one. |
