Does anyone know if there is a weight limit on the HED 3 Carbon or Aluminum wheels?  I can not find any information which leads me to believe there is not a limit, but I do not want to buy them and find out that Clydesdales can not use them.

from what I hear, they are the strongest out there wheel wise. do a search on slowtwitch, alot about that. I saw some when I was looking for mine. I would guess the Alum is a little safer.

The HED website states a weight limit of 200lbs for their disc wheels, but doesn't say anything about the HED.3 tri-spokes.

I've seen other sources that call out a weight limit of 100kg (220lbs) for the HED.3's.

I'm just under 200lbs and have no problems with any of my wheels: HED.3's, Renn 575 disc, or Shimano RH550's.

I first bought mine when I was pushing 250 and was told by Steve Hed himself they could handle the weight.  I have rode these wheels over 3,000 miles without a single issue.

For years I used the aluminum rim H3 on front and back with zero issues. Today I race a H3 carbon rim on the front (much lighter) w/ a Zipp disc in back. Again, no issues.

I have always heard the the H3s are bomb-proof, regardless of rim surface.

Aluminum rims for me.  I like clincher tires and would not be willing to go with the tubulars on the carbon rims.

Following is the answer I received from [email protected]:

"250 on alloy rimmed H3, 220 on carbon rimmed.  This assumes that you are using reasonable size tires, not 20mm ones "
