OK, I have a very nice, very trick, Cannondale road bike which I love.  She is going to get new wheels very soon.  I only want to own one set of wheels for training and racing.  I can get Mavic Ksyrium SL Premiums or Cosmic Carbones for the same price.  What would you do?  I think aero tri wheels look kinda goofy on a roadie, and I have a feeling the Ksyriums will spin better, but maybe I'm wrong.  I only really race Sprint tri's and plan on doing an Oly next year.

Which model C'dale is it? I would make the decision based on which wheel set matched the bike.

It's an 08 CAAD9 frame, then I built it with Ultegra everything.  Pretty sweet.

The Mavics are supposed to be "bullet proof".  Many of the better roadies are riding Aeros even in training and you even see the riders on the tour riding them in the mountain stages.  Personally, if I often rode with a faster group of riders that often exceeded 24+ mph, I would likely go with the Cosmic.  If I spent most of my time <22, I would likely go with the mavics due moreso to its reputed durability.

The 20's are out of my speed range.  I mostly ride between 18-20.

I have Ksyrium SLs on my Bianchi 928. Amazing wheels, will stand up to anything. They are stiff and run true and smooth. In 2 years I have not had to have them tuned or trued, they ride like the day I put em on the bike. Not only do you see a lot of them on road and tri bikes, but up here people even use them on cross bikes and in cross races. Thats how solid the wheels are.

A lot of folks on the roads up here ride Cosmic Carbones and you see a lot of em at crits. They look cool & sound cool, but as others have said, unless you are extremely fast, the aero benefits are negligible. At the same time, the people who ride them say they are smooth, fast (duh) and bulletproof (Mavic wheels are pretty awesome across the board).

I generally ride 100+ miles/week, all road bike miles. I only have a road bike and use it for triathlon training/racing too. I am entirely satisfied with my SLs. I would not drop the extra dough for the Carbones.
