Does anyone have information or experience with this Nashbar Brand trainer?

It looks like a steal at this price for a fluid trainer with a power tap built in.

Anyone have fluid stains on their carpets from a leaky one?

I have the predecessor to that model, the wired one.  First, its not a true power meter, its a power estimator.  It does seem to be fairly consistent with itself, but I can't tell you if its accurate or not.

I've had mine for a little over a year.  It doesn't have tons of miles on it, but it does get frequent use.  The only mechanical thing I've noticed, is that mine starts making some extra noises around 25-26 mph.  It sounds like a loose bearing.  I'm going to call Nashbar and see what they are planning to do about it, but I wanted to get past this weekend's race first.  Its the last of the season.  I don't know if this has always made the noise at that speed, because until the past several month, I don't hink I ever really had it to that speed.

I believe these are made by travel trac.  Take a look at the heat sink on it.  I'm pretty sure that is the same company.  This one looks exactly like mine, except I have the power display on it too.

This one has the exact same stand, and display, but the resistance unit is different.

This one has the same heat sink, but does not have the adjustable resistance unit on the end of the sink.

Are you happy with it, and would you buy the newer version to $300.00 or am I better off sticking with the one of the more established trainers?

If I was going to spend 300, I'd buy the name brand and warranty with it.  I don't think I'd spend 300 on the nashbar unit.

That's just me though.

I just bought this Nashbar trainer and used it for the first time.  This is the first trainer I've had so I can't compare it to anything, but it was easy to set up and use.  The manual isn't too thick.  I didn't notice any stains, but I put a towel under it mainly for sweat.  It definitely can give you a great workout.  I noticed it occasionally makes clicking sounds, but I don't konw if this means anything or not.

Thanks. Yeah the Kurt Kinetic Road machine looks good at the same price, I was just hoping to get the power meter/estimator as well. Thought it might help make the training more productive.

There is a power meter that you can buy for about $50 for the Kurt Kinetic. I also have a PT set-up and it's very accurate to the PT readings.

I went with the Kurt Kinetic. I didn't buy the power estimator. I figured I could always add it later.
