Subject: RE: Swim CutsThe race is actually in San Pablo Bay at McNear's Beach (China Camp State Park ). I did a race there in early June and I checked it out during a minus tide. It is VERY SHALLOW there and near the pier, it is very rocky so I can see how someone could get cut from the mussels and barnacles and whatnot. If you swim there, it's best to the Northern end of the beach during high tide. Don't try to walk out to deep water, you will sink in mud up to your knees. Oh, visibility there is usually very poor. Hopefully, they scheduled the race for high tide.
I was going to do the race but I agree, I think $225 is a bit much for a Olympic distance race, charity or not. It sounds like a fun race though. |
