Subject: Post Tri Season Training Plan?

Hi all,

I've just done my first tri (and only of the season) and I am wondering what everyone does for a post season training plan other than taking some time off?  I will probably do another tri next year but that is a year away and know training won't continue all year long.  I've put in countless training hours and don't know what to do next.

Keep in the pool 2x a month?  Weight train?  Spin class?  Get refamiliar with the gym?

What do you guys normally do trainingwise in between seasons?

TIA,

Harry

I just finished my first season and plan to use the 20 week winter maintenance plan here on BT but also work on improving my run, doing some weight training and core training.

I will be working on my limiters and loosing some excess bodyfat. My limiters are bike hill climbs and run form. I am dialing back the majority of my training to recharge and freshen up, my off season is only a month and a half long, so my plan is to relax a little and catch up on life. Then its all about training again!

x2 on the limiters. Right now my swim stinks so will continue to do that at least 2x a week (probably some lessones too) after a few week break. Also plan on focusing on the bike and increasing leg/core strength through weights. Planning on taking it mostly easy on the running to give some of my joints a break.

I'll spend a lot of hours on my bike trainer and work on the run as well. I don't get to the pool more than once a week through the winter, though I pay for that in my first race. I'm trying to focus more on fun and enjoyment and less on the training data for a while. I'm also doing my first century ride soon, so it's been a good excuse to ride a lot and not do so much of the other two.

really working on increasing my aerobic base and training for a 25K. The offseason is also a good time to work on one of the three aspect(s) of triathlon that is lagging behind the others.
I am also excited to get into spinning to break the monotony and get some group stuff in.

last winter i really focused on running, while getting on the trainer/pool a couple times of week each. . this winter, i am planning on hitting it hard and really getting my training up to where i think it should be in order to do well at some HIM's next season, as well as maybe a late season marathon. . that said, i will probably do some running races through the fall/winter

Edit: woohoo, my 500th post!

I'm planning on working on my swim a lot since it's probably my weakest. Also I have a couple more pounds of fat that I need to lose before I ramp up training for next year.
