Does anyone here own one of the Mercier TT road bikes that are sold at www.bikesdirect.com? If so I'd like to hear what you think of it. I am contemplating buying one of these bikes as my first road bike and it appears to be at least good value for money if the fit is right, what do you all think?

I have one, bought it in April and it is fine for me.  I am new to cycling though so I don't have much to go from here.  I have replaced the seat post, stem and seat to make them more tri friendly.  I am not a fan of the SPD pedals but they are OK and obviously easily replaceable.

I've had one for about 18 months.

I've been very happy with it and have had no problems at all.  I'm planning to keep riding it at least until next year.

There's always one or two others with this bike at every tri I've done.

Good luck.

Ok, thanks for the input. Sounds like a reliable bike which is good. Any idea of the weight?

I Haven't had experiences with the Mercier TT particularly, but I did order my sister the Dawes Lightning 1000 from Bikesdirect. In my opinion, it was great value. From what I hear, it's a Kinesis frame and quality parts (a lot of components I found on my own Felt Z90 bike tha I paid double for). It did need a lot of adjusting (front derailleur in particular), and the wheels weren't true. I think my sis is going to have a LBS go over it quickly, but it's a solid bike. I would expect the same from the Mercier.

i just built my dads up yesterday.

his was from sportymama though.

AWESOME bike for the money. paid about 650 for it.

very good quality, resonably light, good parts selection, something i would ride in training for sure if i had the money for a road bike right now.

I actually bought the Mercier Aero TT a few weeks ago. This is my first road bike, but I did do A LOT of shopping around before I bought it, and I definitely think for the money it's a good bike. Assembly wasn't bad at all, but the tweaking to get the derailers and the fit correct is kind of a pain if you don't know what you are doing (me)!

Well I bought the bike and the assembly was a piece of cake. Had about 5 rides on it so far and I love it. My speed average is up somewhere around 3-4mph faster than the mountain bike. Gearing is a bit off though for the hilly areas that I ride (53/39 front & 12/25 rear), a lot of grinding on the hills which I don't like but it's perfect for the flat.

I would definetly recommend this bike if you are on a budget, it certainly looks like a quality bike if a little heavy.
