Anyone here at BT volunteering for IMFL in 2 months? I signed up to volunteer, but haven't heard anything yet from event organizers.

I will be volunteering at IMFL this year too.  I haven't heard anything from the race organizers yet either, but I don't think we will until closer to the race.

I'm volunteering...only thing I got was the email back after I filled out the form online, but nothing since. I expect they'll wait till much closer to the event so they can be sure of whom they have as I'm sure lots of folks volunteer, but then have plans changed.  BUT, definitely looking forward to seeing some of y'all there working it...then standing in the line for '09!! Surprised

You won't hear anything until a couple of weeks out.  I usually get my list of volunteers 2 or 3 weeks out from the race.  As a matter of fact, I just got my first email about 2 weeks ago that gave all the dates for all the pre-race meeting for the captains.

What area are you a volunteer?

Is it too early to start thanking everyone for volunteering?

If not, THANKS FOR VOLUNTEERING!

I'll jump on the early thank you bandwagon as well! You all are great and I'm super excited to see you out there on 11/1. Just know if I only grunt and nod, that I'm still full of appreciation for all that you do. It might be the best I can do by that point!

When I volunteered last year at IMFL, I didn't hear anything until about a week or two before the race. I'll be racing this year though. Thanks volunteers!

Good news!  I just got my first list of volunteers from the director.  That's early this year.  I only got about a dozen names so I am sure there are lots more to come.  Just wanted to let you all know that the information is working it's way down.  I still wouldn't worry if you haven't heard though.

Hey Rhonda,

I think I saw you on the SRT this Sunday afternoon (~1:30 maybe).  You were on your bike headed towards VF and I was running headed toward Conshy.  Though I recognized you just as you came up to me, but you were by in such a blur I didn't get the chance to shout hello.  If it was you, you were looking strong.

If it is anything like IMRI, it was basically show up and they will give 'direction' or wander around and do what you want. I had signed up for specific activities, but only did 1 of them (wetsuit stripping), I bodymarker, yelled at people at the dismount line because there was only one guy there, and helped load the transition bags from T1 into a truck, and also stood at the finishing line telling people where the medical tent was, food, massage etc.  I also sort of knew one of the people in charge so I was able to ask them where they needed help throughout the day.

Just make sure to go to the volunteer meeting- that's pretty much when you decide what you want to do.

I'm still not sure if I'll be down there volunteering again this year.  But if I do go- I will probably help Sherri in the women's changing tent for T1 and maybe find something else to do.  What that will be- I really don't know.  The women's changing tent can always use volunteers- especially those with experience.  And surprisingly, it was a lot of fun being able to help the pros transition.
