Member 41![]() Neptune Beach, FL | Subject: IMAZ '09 registrationMy apologies if this is already discussed on another thread. Anyone have some thoughts on whether registration will make it online or fill up on site? Thanks. I want in for 09 but cannot go this year to volunteer. |

I do think it will start to sell out more quickly as a late season race, but that will take some time. Thanks! That helps me map out my plans for next year knowing that I should be able to get in from my computer. |

Veteran 183![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: IMAZ '09 registrationMy thought is that since Registration was also allowed to athletes before, and on-site folks just after, the April race, that it has the potential to fill, but that's just a wild guess. I personally find it the most appealing IM event, being in low humidity and now on an historically perfect weather day. With a Normal Max of 72, Min of 48 and an average for the 24 hour period of 60. Even the record high is only 88, which is unheard-of-nice for Airz. Last year even the ave wind speed was 3.6, with a high gust of 17. Obviously it can rain, or be windy or whatever on any given day, but you couldn't pick a better day, on average, than one in Tempe in late November. I understood its lack of popularity in early April due to difficulty training in what was still the winter months for most of the rest of the U.S. But now in Nov there's just nothing not to like. I hope you get in! Edited by erodda 2008-09-22 8:55 AM |

I hope you get in! I am amazed that this is not a super popular race that sells out on site like Lake Placid and FL, just based on it being the closest IM to California. Unless there is an IM (full) brand race I am unaware of in CA one would think that the massive amount of triathletes that I assume live in CA would gobble up the entries for IMAZ. I am an east coaster, though, so I must be missing something on this matter. I know there is plenty of other popular long course races there, but so many people want the IM brand. I am excited about IMAZ because the course seems to be very spectator friendly for my family, flat and PHX is probably easier to get to than CDA or LP. Anyways, thanks for all the info. The weather sounds perfect for an IM. |

I would guess it will become much more popular but still not like LP or Wisconsin just for the fact it doesn't have the mystique yet. Good luck getting in. |

Master 2288![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Katy, TX (West of Houston) | Subject: RE: IMAZ '09 registrationI am also hoping to get in via an online entry for 2009. I DNF'd in April, so I have a point to prove (to myself). I was trained and ready, but it was just not my day. Too many issues to get into at this time. See ya in Nov 2009!!! |
