Is anyone doing this Splash and Dash this Thursday evening. I know it is like a $25 training session, but I really need the practice swimming in large groups in race conditions.

This one is a 750m swim and a 4k run.

I am planning on it (and I believe Sally said she might be there too).

Like you, I hate to pay the $$, but I need the OWS in a race setting.

I'm not but I'm doing the one on October 4th. I did the first one and it was pretty cool. 1,000m swim and a 3k run.

I'm on the fence. When I brought it up at swim today, the coach said its a bad idea to swim in Tempe lake any more than I have to. We've done a few OWS drills in the pool, drafting etc but I too need the OWS practice.

What do they do about westuits for S&D races? Because there is not really awards, do they let the athletes make the call?

They made the first one wetsuit legal but the water was 83 degrees. I only saw a handful of people wearing them.

What is wrong with the water? It seems cleaner than Saguaro.

About the wetsuits, they let people make the call themselves.

If I can get me 25 ducks in a row I might go for it.

The splash and dash was fun last night. I saw RotorDean.

I was able to get away from people on the swim, and swam almost 3 minutes faster for the 750m than I did for Nathans. I was very happy with that. What a difference it makes when you can concentrate on swimming rather than getting kicked and hit constantly. I still have issues with doing a swim to run brick. My calf muscles just cramp like crazy for the first 5 minutes of the run. Any suggestions on a remedy????

I'm glad it were able to break free and enjoy the swim.  It seems like I like to stay with the pack and beat the crap out of eachother.  Maybe someday when I grow up I can learn how to swim like everyone else.  I'll be out of town for the next Splash and Dash but will be there for the 4th one.
