Hi all,

This weekend, the Breast Cancer 3-Day is coming to Michigan.  If you are not familiar with the event, it raises money and promotes breast cancer awareness.  Each participant will walk 60 miles over the three days (Fri-Sun).  The truly amazing part is that in order to participate, each walker has to raise a minimum of $2200.   Of all the 13 (??) 3-Days, Michigan is the biggest.  4000 walkers registered and we expect over 3200 to make the fund raising minimum.  This is a truly amazing event.

I have been on the crew for four events, and have to say it is a life changing experience.  So if you see a wave of pink coming through your neighborhood, come out and applaud these truly amazing people.  Here is a rough map of where the walkers will be each day:

Also, if you see a guy wearing an orange route safety shirt dressed like a pirate or riding around with a pink mohawk on his helmet, stop and say howdy as that will be me.  What I am thinking, you guys are triathletes, you'll notice my bike first:  olive green Iguana (by Giant) mountain bike with front suspension, trail tires, and a flag made up of a pink panther banner (route safety's team name) and pink bra.

Hope to see you out there.

How exciting- I actually just thought to check the event website a couple of days ago to see if I could volunteer- but it looks like no more are needed (that's a good thing, my loss!).  The walk spends the night at the Orchard Lake Community college campus very close to our house and I remember it coming through last year.  Have an awesome weekend!!

Andy,

Hope you have a great time out there!

Thought I would share some pictures that Brandy (my wife) took over the weekend.

This is Brandy and I at cheering station on day-1.  You can't see it in this picture, but Brandy had a size F bra hanging on the back of her bike.

These two fine looking fellows were two of the route safety captains (Brandy was the other one).

This motley crew is the entire route safety team.  Yep, we were in charge of keeping 3000 walkers safe on the route Surprised

The rest of our pictures are here:

Needless to say we had A LOT of fun, but more importantly 7.2 million dollars was raised to support breast cancer research and programs.  The city of Plymoth was awesome, not only did they bring out 3500 people to cheer on the walkers, they dyed their fountain pink.
