What's in yours?

I'm starting to think about this, and I really can't think of much to have in one.  I'm planning to drink most my cals. except for a granola bar or two - which I can pack.

Spare tubes and/or CO2?  sunscreen?

yeah.  On the bike I had sunscreen, candy bars, slim jims.  I stopped for it in IMFL last year because I didn't get sunscreen in T1.  I also liked the reeces and slim jims.

I didn't use a run SN, but would have had socks and a long sleeve shirt if I thought the run was going to be looooong.

I had Tums & Rolaids in my bike & run SN.  I wish I had them from the start of my bike, with all of my training I never had the stomach issues I experienced at IMKY.  I wound up passing out a bunch of Tums on the course to other racers.

If you are drinking your calories are you living off of the course?  If you have your own Infinit or other special mix, throw that in SN also.  Socks and bandaids in run SN might be useful as well.

definately spare tubes & cartridges. my spare tube saved my IM (I had three flats), and for future races, I will carry more spares on my bike too to give to someone who needs it because someone did that for me.

nachos, some beer, chocolate cigars to celebrate. just kidding.

tums are something I wish I had & extra body glide too.

There's another thread with some suggestions and discussion, just a little further down the page in my view.

Here

As I mentioned in that thread, there are lots of great ideas but I didn't pack much and was fine for the one IM I've done. I might add a few more "just in case" items for next time.

Don't put anything of tremendous value, sentiment or something that you won't miss.  The bags are not returned...

My first IM, I put a couple tubes and CO2 cartriges  (paranoia) in the bike bag.  I was also carrying spares.

But put what you think you need, it's a great relief to feel that you are covered in case of an emergency..

At IMC in 07 (cool and breezy evening after 6PM,)  Amazing to run through the special needs area and watch people sit down to go through their bag and pull out shirts, windbreakers, ect.ect.  new belts of fluid and gel.    A little overboard IMHO.

I didn't use either of my special need bags (hadn't planned on it), but you can never be too prepared, so I had:

Bike:

2 tubes
2 CO2
Gels
Fig newtons
Power bars
Body glide

Run:

Socks
long-sleeve shirt
body glide
Gels
fig newtowns
Power bars
Band aids

I only had sunscreen in my transition bags, I think. Grrr...I have a whole excel spreadsheet of race stuff, but it's not here at work with me.

Ok, ok, I know some folks go so fast they don't need a SN bag....but for me it was a very long day, so I should have packed some pizza or burgers in there too for supper. Besides, I'm usually last in 1/2 IMs and was for the full IM...so no one is there to laugh at me shuffling through my bags. OK, maybe the volunteers roll their eyes to the sky, but I haven't noticed that yet.

BUT...I forgot to mention, (that I did use), I packed little baggies of tylenol. 6 for the bike, six for the run. I used almost all of them, I hate to admit.
