I will be there, was going for a swim but the pre-ride sounds more fun. Hopfully they want change the course too many time like last year. Might even go for the course run as well.

Ill look for you Moto--- However, I will be easy enough to find in the crowd, I ll be the tall dark rock crusher one on the Red Rx Stomper....

Team Wheezer, welcome the a truly fun sport. Look for us during the pre-ride....

The north side Volleyball courts are across from T1/T2 area...

Awesome, I will see you guys there. Welcome to BT and to triathlons Wheezer. Like Milton said, this is fun stuff! I just started doing triathlons in July and I am so hooked now. My first tri was going to be this PBR offroad since I didn't have a road bike. But as soon as I had the idea of doing triathlons, I went and bought a roadbike. LOL And now PBR will be my 5th tri since July.

I will have a yellow FCA Enurcance jersey and on a black Yeti 575.

Have fun!  I'm doing a trail run down here in the old pueblo tomorrow morning.  We pre-rode parts of the course last week when we were up that way for our anniversary.  Holy crap, what did I get myself in for?  I hope some of the parts he rode and I walked weren't part of the course.

If we only knew you were coming down we would have set up a meet and greet. I did this race last year and it was for the most part fun. i am looking forward in seeing how much better i have gotten.

How was the course? I didn't make it on Saturday, and tried to find my way around there on Sunday (with not much luck).

I left the map at the office, so it was mostly just cruising some of the trails. My question is eere are you supposed to cross on Cury and does the course have a lot of the loose sandy uphills?

I'm hopeing to be out their next Saturday.

The course was good. It was actually pretty challenging. There is one long uphill section that has a lot of loose sand. It kicked my butt everytime. I went back this morning and rode 2 loops. I can tell you right now, 3 loops for the race is going to be tough. As for crossing Curry, you go under the road through the tunnel. They are going to make everyone dismount and run through the tunnel since there will be traffic coming both ways. That is the only safe way around it. I am planning on going back out there Wendesday and Friday morning of this week also.

If the sandy uphill you're taliking about is the first major up hill after you cross Curry, then I think I was on same portion (and secretly hopeing that I was off course).

I have a feeling it's going to be a tuff bike portion.

Its even worst after you do the swim and the temp. increases. Yes the course is much of the same as last year with the one change in the dismount underneath Curry road. Three loops will make it really conjested, especialy on the up hill portions where alot of the people will be hiking. The tuff part is the top half of the course but its also the fastest on the way down. Be carefull with the loose track there will be a lot of wipe outs.

All-n-all the course after the first lap is pretty easy. I did the Az xtreme and Showlow course and this is far the easiest and most "relaxing". There will be alot of newbies and with the three laps it makes that course seem more difficult than it actually is. Its not like a road course where three laps is a norm.

But hey, its off road, its not suppose to be easy....

How is it going to be easy after the first loop? I did 2 complete loops today and it took 48 minutes. I talked to Mike at Redrock today and he is expecting the fastest guys to take an hour to do 3 laps. That is going to be tough for a sprint distance tri. Especially since most sprint triathlons only take an hour to do the entire thing.  I was really hoping to place well at this race. Now, I am thinking that will be a lot of work. LOL

I figure that by the time we finish, more so me, the frist loop the faster riders will only have one more loop, so the traffic wont be as bad. It will be easier in the fact that the frist loop will be done Yeahhhhh. Also the course seems alot less rocky as it was last year..

I will be heading back to do all three loops this weekend. I was thinking to ride the SOMA course frist then pack the bike in the car ride the PBR course (3loops) on the Mtn bike that I just spent another $200 on, just to see how the course plays out. It will be the last Mtn ride until Nov.

I'm so thinking the bike is going to take me like 2 hours to do.  Will someone make sure they keep the slip n slide wet for me?

I talked with Mike from Redrock again today and he is working on modifying the course to make it a little faster. He hopes to have the new map up on the site tomorrow. So everyone might want to think about doing the pre-ride again this Saturday if they want to ride the changes.

OMG!!!! here we go again. This is so looking like last year. Just leave the course along and let us ride it.

I was thinking about the3 course and the only hard part is the first part of the top half of the course. Once you clear the two "major" climds the rest is easy.

Fine since I was going anyways I might as well show for the Pre-ride once again. Maybe they will keep the run portion the same....

The new map is up.  Looks like pretty minor changes from the original.  Just changed a corner before mm 2.  Don't know what the translates to in terms of conditions or time.

And it looks like a corner of the run has changed too.  At least based on the routings I did awhile back.

Swim looks the same

So I went out to Sweetwater down here last night, and Erik (hubby) said I was looking much better and going faster...which is still a snails pace for him.  But I did manage to make it through about 4 miles in 36 mins.  Sooooo I'm thinking, climbing hills aside (because I'll be walking), I can probably suffer through this in about an hour and a half now.  Excellent!  30 extra minutes to torture myself on the run.

Hopefully crawling through the 15 miles at TOWM this weekend will help some more.

There is one really technical section cut off that should cut off about 3 minutes. And then there is another section that has been shortened on the other side of Curry that will only cut off about 30 seconds of single track. Both of the changes cut out are single track and the changes will be better for passing in the race, but maybe a little less exciting.

Excellent, I'm ok with less exciting right now.  I just don't want to be hike-a-biking on single track.  Tends to people off.

I'm seriously considering one of those rear lights that attaches to your brake so I give advance warning to people behind me that I make sudden stops.
