There are a couple service provider options up here in Frisco for high def program packages but wanted to see what others have and what they pay. Im not picky as to how many channels I have, I just want to use my HD TV for the top channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, Discovery). Thoughts?

We have Verizon Fios and we really like it.  We are just about to get 100+ HD channels, currently have about 35 or so HD channels.  The picture is amazing.  We pay about 110 a month but we also have the internet conneciton and a multi room dvr.  Not sure if you have it in your area but it really is good

I just use over-the-air with an antenna and pick up all the major channels in HD (though I've only got a standard def TV) and it comes in crystal clear as with cable. Plus they just added Universal sports which is awesome. Watched the womens world championship road race this morning and coverage of the BG triathlon world cup from earlier this year in Japan. Plus it's free, all I had to do was install a nice antenna to pick up the digital stations.

Avoid Time Warner, whatever you do.

Fios, If you can get it. As said before, avoid time warner like the plague. DirecTV is decent if you can't get fios, but their channels are much more compressed and it is very noticable. I have heard some good things about uverse, but I have no personal experience with it.

Any tips on how to install or a website of what I need to buy?

Sure. First you'll need a decent antenna if you don't have one already. Something directional and amplified will work best. As well, indoor antennas will only work best if you are real close to the transmit towers. I recommend installing something either outdoor or in the attic at least.

Here is the antenna I purchased.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7322587&type=product&...

Sure it is classified as indoor and I installed it that way initially. It worked pretty well but was not perfect. I have since moved it into the attic and it has been working great ever since. There is another brand with a similar antenna that is cheaper but no longer produced. You'd have to go through Amazon or somewhere else online to find it. I went with this one based on good reviews and recommendations online, plus I could just drive down to BestBuy to pick it up and return it if it didn't work out for me.

Here's another site with good info.

www.antennaweb.org

This will give you an idea of antenna information and what may work best for your house. I was concerned about the distance of the towers to my place and the fact that I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing their recommendations of an outdoor an antenna. I assume there recommendations are for the absolute best solution, though my cheaper indoor antenna is working just fine despite their suggestions.

Not sure what sort of TV you have but you'll need a TV with a digital tuner in it to pick up the digital stations. If you don't have one of these yet, you'll need to purchase a digital tuner box that is being advertised and subsidized by the government everywhere. Considering you are looking for HD, I bet you've already got this part covered, but you might want to make sure.

Let me know any other questions or specific information you want to find out and I'll help as much as I can. You can hit me offline if you want too.

Like Tim said the anetnnas work great.  I used one for a few months before switching over to Directtv.  I had direct already so I was stuck using them but because I want the sunday ticket I am stuck anyways.  AT&t looks pretty cool especially with their DVR that lets you record 4 shows at once I believe plus you can watch in different rooms than you recorded in.

You can watch from different rooms with Direct - you just have to set up a network - which can be a hassle - but you can also download free movies and shows if you do set up a network.
