Subject: Wetsuit and tri suit?

Ok whats the difference?

Winter is coming and contrary to popular belief water in Florida does get cold (61-64 degrees)

So I need a wetsuit,  My question is whether or not to purchase a wetsuit or something more tri specific.  I dont want something to be restrictive or something that will ruin my technique while swimming (if thats possible).

Suggestions please and maybe a good website that doesnt charge a butt-load of $$

thanks

Ben

p.s  I was thinking and please add your 2 cents, But I was thinking about purchasing a suit that is shorts and short sleave shirt style ( I dont know the clinical term for this suit)  or maybe a full body suit But which one would be better for 61- ish degree water?  I know I have swam in springs here in Florida at 72 degrees and it wasnt that bad, suggestions on which suit and so on!

Thx

Renting is always a good option to see what you may like, if not these are some inexpensive choices-

the more expensive suits are more comfortable, better designed, last longer, etc. Now is a great time to buy 08 models on sale thru January.

Are you asking about betting a scuba-type wetsuit or a tir-specific wetsuit?  A scuba-type suit I don't believe will give you the arm freedom for swimming.

I've actually been pondering trying a tri wetsuit for scuba.  I do some diving up here in Indiana and have a 7mm scuba wetsuit.  For warmer water, my tri wetsuit would be nice to use, but I don't know if the buoyancy is distributed well for diving.

I lived in Florida for 3 years out of college and people told me that the water was too cold for swimming (recreational) in the winter so I didn't try the first year.  The second year I went swimming and realized "cold" was relative.  I'm originally from Michigan and Lake Michigan NEVER got as warm as the "cold" winter water off Melbourne, Florida.

Tri Suit = a lycra/nylon or lycra/polyester blend material that is essentially a tri top and shorts sewn together.

Wet suit = neoprene suit made to keep you more afloat and help you keep warm.

Tri wetsuits are made to allow freedom of movement when swimming.

Check the Xterra's, I think they're clearing out the '08 wetsuits. And another good budget brand is NeoSport. Worth checkingout at least.
