I saw these things that can be put in the handlebar to decrease vibration/harshness..... anyone have them and are they worth it to you ? I asked lbs about them and they sed they'd put them in for $ 15.

Uh...what? Do you have a link to one of these things?

Are they basically just something solid that goes inside the tubes? If so, I can see how that could dampen vibration. But the harshness of a ride doesn't usually originate in the handlebars, so I'm skeptical.

I THINK they went in the ends of the bars... but interesting that vibration duzn't originate ther... may be a waste.

Well don't take my word for it since I haven't actually used these things. But you also might want to think about bike gloves and handlebar tape to deal with vibration.

Dude, for $15 just have them installed and see for yourself what you think.  If you don't like them or think they are pointless added weight, take them back out.

I would like to get some of the flat-top carbon handlebars.  I doubt you can beat that for reducing vibration.  They are however kind of pricey.

You're talking about "Buzz Kills" by Bontrager. Never tried them, I'm skeptical.

As for flat top CF bars, Pricepoint.com has an Easton EC70 for a killer deal right now (or they did last week when I ordered one)

they do actually work pretty well. the brass ones work better, although they are a little more expensive and heavier.

They're heavy and I haven't noticed a difference one way or the other. The nice thing is if they are installed properly, they don't fall out. But, if I was pressed for a recommendation I would say save your money. They are just a doodad that won't improve you riding.
