Subject: Just starting my IM build-up and found a lump in my armpit
7 years ago i had an enlarged lymph node removed from under my left arm.
the lump wasn't painfull to touch, but they decided to remove it anyway. They
then ran all sorts of tests on it and on me and couldn't find out what had caused it.

Well, 13 days ago i found another lump under that same arm. I went to see my
doc and he said to give it 2-3 weeks and if it doesn't go down or gets bigger to go
back and see him. He felt as it was sore when touched and prodded that this was
probably down to some infection.
He checked me out and there no other lumps anywhere. It's not getting any bigger
or smaller but is now NOT sore to touch.

To say, I'm worried is an understatement, as I'm just beginning the build-up for
my 1st IM this year.

Anyone have any experience of this sort of thing?

O man, I you must be so worried. A few years back I had the sorest arm pits. My lymphs were swollen under both arm pits and I could hardly put my arms down. They were so sore, the dr put me on antibiotics and it went away in about a week. It was an infection, also caused by stress, over work, not enough sleep and a poor diet. They were very lumpy and also very sore. Then, just 2 years ago I had a lump on the side of my neck, I felt it in hospital the day after giving birth to my youngest daughter. It wasn`t sore at first, but after a few days it was. I saw 3 different dr`s in 2 months and all said it was an infection and it would go away eventually. It did, but it seemed to take forever. Just do what the dr says, if you are really freaking out then do what I did and get a second or third opinion. Those lymphs are very sensitive and the slightest infection can cause them to swell up, my recommendation (I`m no dr) is to get another opinion, rest, eat well and try to stay calm.
tizzy.

I would get that checked, and keep getting checked and get second opinions, and be on that thing like crazy.  Not to scare you, I had a very close friend's wife who died because she was diagnosed with cancer which spread throughout her body through her lymphnodes.  It hit every vital organ you can think of and by that time, chemo or surgery was out of the question.  She was just shy of 30 when she past.

I've had the same problem, I was paranoid that it was breast cancer so I went to the doctor right away. He kind of looked at me like I was being silly told me it was an infection and gave me some antibiotics. It hurt to the touch. I don't know what caused it, but I can say it was the most stressful time in my life EVER.

Did your doctor perscribe you antibiotics, if he thought it was an infection?

I have swollen lymph nodes all over my neck, like half dollar size, 2 on the right side of my chest. And on my arm. No problems and had them for years. (Yet, hope it stays thay way) How many/why did the doc remove them?
