Subject: Are you ready for a BT meet and greet ride?

I have been asked on more than one occasion to get us all to Wickenburg, so here it is!

I would like to invite the BT crowd, one and all to enjoy a fun little ride from North Peoria to Wickenburg and back.  It is a great opportunity to meet and ride with those you have met on BT from the Arizona threads, as well as get in a metric century ride.  Good for recovery from Tour de Scottsdale, training for Pumpkinman, Soma, or IMAZ, or even for a building ride for Tour de Tucson.

It is my hope that all those that have promised to ride with me will show for this event – to sweeten the pot, I will have a spaghetti feed at my home (less than 2 miles from the start/finish line) for all those interested in re-fueling.

Please post a reply if you would like to attend, and if you could bring your own beverages, that would be wonderful as well.  I would really like to see some Tucson and Flagstaff participation as well as this is a weekend event!

Here is the link to the route!  We would all meet at the Home Depot on the corner of Lake Pleasant and Happy Valley in Peoria to park and start.  Along US 60 there is several areas that a turn-around can be accomplished to shorten your ride!

When you doing this?  So even though it's not a "no drop" ride, those of us, like ME, can ride a shorter distance?  Let me know - I'll be in if I don't already have something going.  Just got bike back from shop and ready to go.  Well, at least the bike is!

Me me me!! The only weekend that is out is Oct 25/26. I need to know a few days in advance so that I can book the dog sitter. Saturday would be better than Sunday. And not too too too early in the morning.

Jer - Robot and I are interested although honestly, a shorter option would be nice for those of us not training for LONG right now! Or else you are going to have some HURTING people on 60 miles, or just some SLOWBIES. If you are okay with that then...alright!

What date?

We could have the people who want to do a shorter one start a bit later so we all finish around the same time.

Jer, any pool or jacuzzi at your place for some leg recovery afterwards?

Errr, way too early for me. I know, it's still hot out so the earlier the better but until the condo is a done deal I'd rather not spent another night in a hotel (the dog sitter already costs $40/day).

Not in. I have a Cub Scout campout with the kids that weekend. Even if I didn't, I don't think I'll be free of the trainer by then. Hopefully by the 19th I will be.

Count me in for the full distance, Jerry.  As soon as we get back to Home Depot, my taper for Pumpkinman (and Soma) begins.  What time are we going to get rolling?

Hi Guys. I'll be down as a maybe. I think my plan that weekend is to do the Cha Cha trail run on saturday 11th so a long ride on sunday would be good. I'll just have to check the family schedule.

Bleh!  I'll be out of town that weekend. I'll be in town this coming weekend, and the weekend of the 18-19.

Great idea though, and once November hits, I'll be able to participate in the weekend events again.

Yeah, but leave out the spice cake cup cakes.

Are there places to refill water along the way or should we make sure we have sufficient for 60 miles?

If someone wants to lead a shorter ride - leaving along the same route at 9:30am (perhaps giving those in tucson and Flagstaff and opportunity to get enough beauty rest to join us!) would allow you to mee the returning century rides about US 60 and still give you a 30ish mile ride.

No water along route except in Wickenburg and the start line.  I suggest that you bring all liquid and nutritional needs along for the ride.

Cupcapes are always welcome!
