I have runner's knee for the last couple of years.  I have someone recommend purchasing some New Balance 992 shoes and say it will help.  Curious if anyone else has a recommendation on a running shoe that helps with runner's knee.

I think you need to go to a dedicated local running store that can look at and analyze your gait and then recommend the right shoe for you.

chrism hit it right on...get a proper fit at a running store. i will say that depending on your gait, brooks shoes are wonderful, the glycerin or defyance if you're neutral or a supinator, the infiniti for light stability, or the trance or adrenaline for mild stability. i swear by brooks, they have been wonderful for me.

I have run with the 992 for all training for the last 10 years. It is heavy but very cushioned, wide and solid. It is a very good all purpose shoe for trail or road running. 10k racing and under I wear a lighter shoe but anything over I use these suckers. My friend is an physical therapist turned orthopedic surgeon and he says they are not the perfect shoe for all types of gait and stride but they are a good shoe for all types of gait and stride. If you arent going to go through the whole process of fitting and stride analysis they might be a good purchase. I think they are the Volvo of running shoes- very safe, boxy and wont get any style points. They do come in different widths so if you have an very narrow foot they may not be the best choice. BTW they are made entirely in the USA.

the one that fits your, IOW go and get fitted. That been said I am going to venture saying your runner's knee has prob little to do with your choice of sneakers unless you've been using the same sneakers for 2 years and they are completely trashed. If that is not the case I would take a look at my training plan...
