Looks like the Oceanside race is filling up fast.  New message posted to www.ironmancalifornia.com today:

Limited General Entry Slots Still Available for Ironman 70.3 California
September 29, 2008

Oceanside, CA - There are very limited general entry slots still available for the 2009 Ironman 70.3 California. It is expected that general entry for the event will close in the next few days.

Ironman 70.3 California will take place for the ninth time on April 4, 2009 in Oceanside and surrounding southern California area. For more information please log onto, www.ironmancalifornia.com

 I pulled the trigger and registered today.  Anyone else in?   I've been lurking here for awhile but haven't seen much posted about this race.  Any pointers for someone who's new to this race?

There's an active thread in the California forum about this

Swim - get used to potentially cold water

Bike - generally flat for a tri, but 3 climbs on the backside of the course, the first quite steep (but not long).  Train some hills.

Run - flat (some inclines) and concrete, two loops
