Hello Arizona BT'rs

My husband has a conference in Scottsdale that wives were invited to and as I am doing IMAZ in November, I am coming and bringing my bike.  We arrive tomorrow and will be in town through Friday.

While other wives will be busy shopping and hitting the spa, I hope to be on my bike!  Kooky crazy, huh?

So, I am looking for some advice on routes?  What is pretty safe during the week?  Any suggestions on bike shops to stop by?

I thought I might check out the IM bike course but wasn't sure if traffic was light enough to do so.

I would appreciate any input you have or advice you care to give!

Thanks!

j-squared from TX

Thanks for the responses--

The conference is at the Borders, north of Scottsdale, but I have a car, a gps and am willing to go anywhere.  I think tomorrow I am going to explore the IMAZ course--put my bike in the car, drive it first and then figure out what is okay to ride.

Is it possible to do the OWS without a wetsuit?  I have goggles, but no wet suit--thought I'd just be in a pool.  What is the water temp?

What is "the tribe"?  Where do they meet?  What time do they ride?  If there is a link, I'll check it out.

Thanks again--we arrived no problem and I have put my bike together and am ready to go tomorrow!

You can easily OWS without a wetsuit. (says the guy who hasn't been at OWS in a long time)

The Tribe ride is at Tribe Multisport.

If you are at The Boulders, there is pretty low traffic in that area and around Cave Creek and Carefree.

If you are in town on saturday Tribe Multisport has a good 46 mile ride with riders of all levels. B-line would be another great ideas as well. Look out for rode debree, bring at least 2 spares.

What: Open Water Swim followed by a Run followed hopefully by BEER!
Where: Butcher Jones Cove (Click here for directions and map) http://web.mac.com/j.donahue/ESCKTC/Swim.html
When: 2008 Inaugural outing begins on April 3, 2008 at 5:30
