Anyone else notice Playtri isn't doing the HIM next year? A mini, sprint, and Oly will all be on Sunday this year with some swims, runs, and kids du on Saturday. Interesting. Maybe they realized things didn't go as well as they wanted last year and are trying to keep it a bit smaller.

That is probably a good decision. Seems like they had way too much going on this year and couldn't handle it. The oly was my first Playtri race, and I have been hesitant to do another one of their races again due to lack of organization/safety issues present at the race.

Hopefully someone else will step up and offer more local oly's and HIM's.

There is no Cooper Sprint listed either.....I'm bummed because that was 3 minutes from the house and it was a fun race.

McKinney is now being ran by Playtri instead of Ironhead too. McKinney and Cooper are both races that are really their own races and they simply hire someone (Ironhead and Playtri here) to run the race for them. I wouldn't doubt it if the Cooper race goes on again either through another RD or they try and put it on on their own.

The reason there is no HIM next year: permits.

There is every intention of bringing it back in 2010.

Seems a little strange. They need the exact same road closures for the Oly, so is it only a time problem where they aren't allowed to have the streets for the extra hours?

I hope it comes back as well. The more races in the metroplex the better for the sport.

Well, I am a little disappointed. I had thought I might do that HIM, but I guess not now!

It was a nice option having a HIM early in the season so close to home (aka: no hotel fees or gas to pay for!).

Playtri took over Tri-Historic McKinney??  Bummer.  I liked having one of Jack's races nearby.

Yeah I'd rather have Jack than PlayTri. I have done one race from each of them this year. The PlayTri RD was a moron at McKinney.

No idea what your experience was, but he's certainly not a moron and generally puts on very good races.

There's probably a better way of bringing up your issues without calling people names.

repeat after me...Lone....Star.....

new bike course for the Half Iron this coming year. One loop, where you'll bike over San Luis Pass on the west end of the island. Very cool, scenic, and NO traffic....

For some strange reason I get the feeling that I will be doing LoneStar as my IMCDA prep race.

Experience was not good with the RD, race was good though. I brought up my concern at the race, and was also responded to the post-race survey. The person I had problems with was a girl so possible not the RD or a different RD. Either way, she was a moron.

I think you are talking about Merri. She was a USAT referee at the mckinney race last year. I remember her being rude to my dad back at the Playtri festival. I don't know if she is just like that, or if it was race stress.
