When you put the time and miles into building up to a HIM, when you step down to a sprint again it just seems so easy. The biggest thing you have to do it flip your mindset. In a long race you have to hold, back to pace yourself and make sure you keep enough in the tank. But in a sprint, you can go for it. Just hammer the bike and then as soon as your legs come in on the run, ramp up the effort and leave it all out there. I'd just work some hard tempo work into this week and a mini brick (race specific). Have fun.

I was almost as sore the day after my last sprint as I was the day after my HIM. My training had been similar to yours, all gearing up for the HIM and I just used the sprint as a fun training day, but I did push it pretty hard. The intensity must have been a bit of a shock to my endurance trained muscles, but nothing that interfered with my training schedule.

With such short distances, go out and push everything to the limit. Even if you blow up on the bike, your HIM training will carry you through and you can laugh about getting a little too crazy afterwards.

not really sure why but I scheduled a sprint race 7 days after my first HIM.  I decided that the sprint would just be a fun day and didn't care about speed.  I PRd by 30 seconds on a course that was significantly more difficult than my previous PR.  I did just what was suggested, didn't really pace myself too much, just pushed the whole way.

One of my most fun races this year.
