Subject: RE: How do I swap out my aerobars with bar end shifters?sonnyk - 2008-10-11 5:53 PM lol, thanks...just trying to decide if I should go shop for a cutter/crimper and end caps or just take the bike to the LBS. This is both fun and frustrating at the same time!
If you go this route, make sure that you get a good cable cutter-- the Park CN-10 is a lifetime investment kind of tool that I use all the time---super clean cuts on both cables AND housing. http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=14&item=CN-10 Then, make sure you know how to adjust your derailleurs, because you'll need to do that too. Park also has some great how-to's in that realm... http://www.parktool.com/repair/byregion.asp?catid=53 Good luck! Bikes are not terribly complicated machines, and fixing/building them yourself is very satisfying. Just use the right tools for the job, be patient, and have fun!
