Just ran a nice one today... BAA's half, but there are no more in MA until (I think) New Bedford next March.

I checked New England Runner (http://www.nerunner.com) and saw these

There is the Hyannis Sheraton in February. They have a combined 10K, 1/2 Mary, Marathon. Its a pretty big race as alot of folks try to qualify for Boston. I ren the 10 K the last 2 years. This year I plan to run the 1/2 Mary

Thanks.  I'm thinking of maybe the Hyannis one in Feb ... but with that amount of time, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and try for the full marathon?  The longest road race I've done is the Falmouth road race (7m).  Running is my weak spot and I figure I might as well work on it now.  Has anyone done the Hyannis 1/2 or full?

Working on your weakness is great.

Going longer and longer isn't necessarily the best way to improve. Working on getting faster shorter can be step one. In certain times in winter I  would do 5K every rest week so I could work on getting faster.

Going long and slow gets you good at going long and slow.

Hmmm.... good point to think about Kathy G.  Maybe I'll plan for the half and really focus my efforts on increasing my time.  Afterall, I plan to only do sprints and Olys next season.
