OK, probably not a great idea, but I'm in the market for a new tri-bike and I'd like to evaluate the option of building my "dream bike" based on the myriad of research I've done over the past two years re: what I'd ride if I could just "put it all together". Where I want to start is with a custom carbon frame maker that will take my measurements (as provided by my LBS) and send me a tri frame to my specs with custom paint job. Anybody know where I can go to get a frame like this? Thanks...

Only 3 I'm aware of on the top of my head: Parlee, Calfee and Cycip. I know there are more. The Parlee is a fantastic bike You're more likely to get a lug and tube Titanium / carbon hybrid custom. Those are plentiful ranging from 1 person shops (just saw a guy building "October" brand bikes) to much bigger operations like Serotta, Seven and IF.

While not 100% custom, both BMC TT and Javelin's Lugano frames can be custom made based on a customer's fit dimensions, with every tube and angle measurement tweaked based on a rider's optimum fit.

If you have $25,000 to spare, you can buy into Javelin's Reserva program, where you will be flown into Javelin's offices for a detailed computerized fit session, then be flown in again 60 days later after the John Cobb signature frame has been custom made in Italy for a fitting in the wind tunnel with John Cobb himself for final tweaking.

I've got a Serrotta, though mine is the steel version. Very cool.

I had read about the Lugano and kinda wanted to do that in the future. I didn't realize it was 25k to get into the Reserva program though. Maybe they will let me on Team Javelin if I did that. Nothing like buying your way in.

Doesn't Elite do custom frames too?

Sounds like an amazing prgram, albeit on the high end price wise I am going to check out BMC TT and Javelin...Guru looks good as well, and some others recommended Zinn. Thanks for the feedback!

Only the special John Cobb edition is that expensive - Javelin will plug in your measurements and custom build a Lugano for much less. Simon Lessing rides one and also is a dealer through his website bouldercoaching.

Also, "buying your way in" is the only way to get into Team Javelin - for the lofty sum of $25/year.
