GB,

I read a hilarious message in the forum about a guy who wanted to get into the "tri" thing back in january.  i guess he found out there were four different types so he signed up for all four (spring, oly, 70, and 140).  The best part is he has completed the first three and the iron is in 12 weeks.  I am letting him take the title and have only advanced my distance to the olympic which will be Miami Man in Nov.  I hope that many of you who are racing in the Trilogy make it and also provide your input on the venue if you raced it before.

Who else?

^^that's ridiculous.  But good on him getting that far.  I didn't do this one last year.  My kids are now 27 and 13 months respectively so I'm getting a little more lee-way to get back to training.  I know Velorider (Leonora) did it last year and she puts-together some awesome race logs.  Check her log out.  The run is through the zoo which is pretty cool.  The ride is on the causeway.  The swim can be pretty fast.  I'm excited for this one.

See you down there I guess.

The Bike Course is my back yard (The Redlands)...It's where I train all the time...LOL

Also I have been helping the people of MultiRace for 3 years marking/putting the signs at the Bike Course...

I've done this race the past 2 years and it is a great rce..Very hot and the bike is windy...

the bike is not on the causeway, but through all the back roads of Homestead, Fl.  the swim is beautiful..clear and calm...
I am not doing it this year cause i am going to IM Fl to cheer my boca raton rti club temamates on.  Have a fun time!!!

Question for the group:

I did an Oly in March in about 3 hours and have basically maintained that shape since March.  If I were to ramp up the training (which is likely b/c work is getting smoother), could I be ready for the HIM in November? I know every athlete is different but I am just wondering if it's feasible to go from Oly to HIM in 3.5 months.

Thanks

Yes, no problem. There is plenty of time to prep for a HIM in November. You already have a good base. I am coming back from a break and just doing low prep work right now. I will start my MiamiMan program at the end of this month.

Let me know, if I can help.

Good luck.

You crack me up because last year, you said you only recommended the Oly because you could have more fun.  Now that I'm taking your advice, you're doing the HIM.  Oh well.  I guess I'll see you at the finish expo!

Well....I have raced many Sprints and Olys...for many years...domaining the disitances and getting in the top 5 or 6....that...it's time to give a try again to an HIM....

I don't only want to finish...I really want to finish strong and happy....and....not misserable dead...like in my 1st one....even I finished it...It's the cruel reallity...LOL

My point was that....people usualy jump to HIM or IM too soon....and....I usually recommend to play or race more Sprints and Olympics...domain very well the distances... before the big jump....

I was just giving you a hard time.  Like I said, I'll just have more time to rummage through all the goodies at the finish expo.

my knee is still funky (had to take 3+ months off) but two specialists said its just lingering tendonitis....um ok.
anyways i really want to do the HIM to cap my first season, 1 sprint, 1 oly, 1 him.
i just started training last week again doing some swims, bikes, and using a precore crossramp to do my "running"
anyone think i would be ready in time? i don't wanna pay then have to try and transfer cause the knee disagrees with my brain.
only race i was planning on shooting for, for the rest of the year.

It looks like you comment about your knee after each run.  I would think that could cause some problems getting-in the longer run bricks so I would recommend the Oly.

Unless you're a fast clyde in the 30-39 AG.  In that case, I say do the HIM...;-)

haha thanks Gomes. im 27 and about 153 so no dice there. Im going to see the specialist again tomorrow morning-he deals only with athletes and sees many many triathletes, so im gonna talk to him about it. pre-problem i was doing 11-13 mile long runs after already doing 35-40 miles of runs during the week, so the fitness should still be there more or less, and i would think it would come back a month or so before the actual race...guess ill wait and see what he says.
