Subject: Tri ing to shift that last bit of spare tyre

Hello,

I have been training for about four years, and have come down from about 250lb / 115kg to 196lb / 90 kg. I am 6'6". I took part in two Super Sprint Tris in May this year, (amazing fun) and have the next one scheduled for Sept. I train about 3 - 4 times a week, very intense cardio, (about 45 min - 1 hour) and have three small children so spend my weekends running around after them (so not much time for working out etc). And I intend to step up to Olympic Distance next year.

I have never been / probably never will be "ripped", but would like to know if there is any way that I might shift that last bit of fat from round my middle. Or should I just suppress my vanity (which I did not suffer from when I was 250lb)? And focus on Tri event performance? Or do I need to train more and for longer?

I have always been a bit of a glutton, and I 'manage' this perpetual hunger with oats for breakfast, protein shake mid morning, usually spag bol for lunch, protein shake mid afternoon, and a normal supper (e.g. fish, sweet pots and veg). I drink moderately (usually wine).

Any practical advice gratefully received.

Thanks.

To lose that last bit of fat is all about diet... and keeping up the exercise.

Then again, sometimes your body just has fat where it has fat... no matter what you eat or do.

I have gotten down to 108 pounds (at 120 now)... and even then I still had a butt and saddlebags. There is just no losing either. I could starve myself and I'd still have a but and saddlebags. That's how it is.

I gave up trying to lose either a few years back. It is what it is.

Also consider lengthening your workout times, and decreasing the intensity.  Get back into the fat burning zone
