Here's my plan for September 19 (Saturday).

I am driving to Prescott because I have a half marathon on that day. I think the race starts at 6:30.  If I can get someone else to go with me, I was thinking about riding home from there.  On map my ride, it says its 125 miles.  My friend is going to ride up there with me and drive my car home so there will be an extra spot in the car if anyone wants just catch a ride with me.

Right now, this isn't a for sure thing. Has anyone ever done this? What are the road conditions like? Are there adequate water/food stops?

Another option would be to just ride around in Prescott.. I don't know the area at all though. Anyone interested?  The entry fee for the half marathon is $30 if anyone is interested in running this with me as well.

Very tempting.  Prescott has great bike routes that I have done but not down the hill yet.  I was chatting with Dustin this weekend about doing this ride but adding the 1/2 might make a long day since that won't be an easy 1/2.  We'll talk tomorrow morning but I might be up for this.

I was thinking the same thing about the half. I signed up for it a couple months ago because I was training a friend to do a full, but he's hurt now (out for 2 months).. If you're interested in the doing the bike, I may just skip the half marathon.  I planned my off week right after that weekend, so I may run it depending on how fresh I am to begin the day.

Is that the Prescott Valley race? If so, worst race of my life. Half mary at altitude with wind, raining the entire race and it never got to 60 degrees.

Hope you have better luck. If I never have to see Prescott Valley again it will be too soon.

60 degrees sounds nice though. Can't wait to where my arm warmers!

Ooh - running in 60 degrees! That sounds perfect! Of course with my luck, it will be 80, but that will be good practice for SOMA...

Oh phooey guys - the 19th is when they're having the OWS at Lake Saguaro... decisions, decisions.

What about doing the Prescott to home ride on the 20th?  I'll miss the Tour de Pee Vee half mary, but I need lots more swim practice than running practice anyway...and I can run in Prescott wherever I want while you guys are riding down the hill.

And Elliot, you could do the PV half mary on Saturday, and then we'd drive you back up to Prescott for Sunday.

That will work. We'll all talk tomorrow morning and figure it out.

Now that I look at it might be smarter if I did the half and bike on separate days. On Map My Ride, the route is 126 miles from Prescott to Scottsdale, so I might be riding closer to 135-140 miles.

Here's the map I'm looking at:http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/az/prescott/375853511

Plus, I wouldn't want to hold you guys back if I'm fatigued from the run.

I'd be up for the half and some sort of bike ride on the 19th. We could stage our own Saguaro OWS on Sunday, and all swim around Kim so that it feels like a race! Then you wouldn't have to pay the race entry! Kim, you should ride with me on 19th in Prescott. I'm supposed to get 90 miles that day. :D

Just remember swimming should never get in the way of a good bike ride.

Because they are riding back home from Prescott. It's like 120 miles.

I'm planning on running the half mary on Saturday and biking on Sunday.  Not sure if I'm going to stay the night up there on Saturday. It kind of depends on who is driving up there on Friday or Saturday (I may have to leave on Friday because the run starts at 7 and I might not feel like leaving at 4am and getting there in time).

Anyone want to do the half mary with me on Saturday? I'm not trying to PR... so it'll be a comfortable run throughout (hopefully).  Entry fee is only $30.  If I end up driving up there, I have an extra roof rack for anyone who wants to bike up there as well.  After I talk to Dean, KIm, etc early next week, I'll give further details on my plan...

120 miles, a schmundred and schmenty miles...

Well, I would be up for both the half and a ride if i could find someone my pace to ride a route up there that is fairly safe. I only have 90 miles on my schedule though.
