I'm doing it as my first tri (other than 1 I did over 20 years ago as a lark before there was such thing as "Olympic distance").

Obviously I have not done it, but several people I know have.  The swim is apparently very short - probably not a whole 440.  an easy swim that hardly even gets more than 4-6 feet deep.  Both bike and run are totally flat - i hear the run can get pretty hot.  distance in the transitions is very short from what I hear.

Good luck!

I'm also doing the tri Saturday!!!  It's my first and I'm excited/nervous!!!  Ran 11 marathons and countless 1/2's along w/other distances.  I'm trying to improve my running this year and thought there wasn't a more fun way than to add a triathlon or two!  I'm excited to see what's in store for us.  I know it's going to be hot and muggy; my first thought at 7:30am this morning was how hot it's going to be Saturday!  GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Wow, what incredible weather! I was ready for a 90-degree death march through the sun.

Anybody doing the Cooter Tri in Inverness next month?

I wouldn't bother with the wetsuit unless we have some really unusual weather. The water temperature will still be in the mid to upper seventies, if not higher. Last year the air temperature was upper 40's at the start, which made standing around before the race and the first few miles on the bike extremely 'refreshing.' However, it really felt good to hit the nice warm water. Of course, by the time most people were finishing, it was into the low seventies.
