Subject: Music?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone had some music they like to run, bike, or swim to. I love expanding my library so please do post some great songs here that inspire you or just flat out keep your mind off of things.

Hopefully this will be useful to more people than just me!

-Chris

Tyler,

you look young enough to rock out to the band Bullet for my Valentine. I rocked out to them before my last tri and that helped a lot. In particular the song called "Your tear's don't fall (they crash around me)"

I just put the newest kings of leon CD on my nano.  I like to run to any music that increases tempo the first three songs and then is sort of stable.

I don't recommend EVER listening to music on your bike.

This is a great mix, which you can move songs around for different intervals:

Guns 'n roses - "aint it fun"
Good charlotte - "the anthem"
led zep. - "Bron-y-aur stomp"
scorpions - "because I love you"
rage against the machine - "born of a broken man"
limp bizkit - "break Stuff"
U2 - "all I want is you"

I am going out on a ride in 30 minutes.  Going a little old school today, so I just loaded Beatles Abby Road.

I happened to catch one track on the radio as I was prepping the boat for tommorrow.

I start off every run with Enter Sandman by Metallica.  If that doesn't get you going, nothing will.

The album Tragic Boogie by The Life And Times.  Guitar-centric indie rock.  Perfect length and pace for many of my runs....A common reference would be U2 meets Sonic Youth.  The song "Let It Eat" is a perfect running song.  Best album I've heard in years....

I listen to a lot of different styles of music for many different situations. I love indian classical but you wont see me running to it....lol

I tend to exercise to a lot of deep trance (not clubby stuff). I do throw on some death metal but mostly trance as it lets me zone out and get lost in the beats.

check out a band called   A Dark Halo really nice sound and something i have been running to

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o2OKRz2lRY  check that out

Just listen to whatever moves u.

Primus-"Jerry was a Racecar driver" (punk?)
Ice Cube-"You can do it" (rap)
Cheaptrick-"I want you to want me" (80s)

Freebleeder...a band out of Austin, TX.  No major record releases to my knowledge but you can find some of their stuff on iTunes.  Think: punkband in a smokey bar on 6th street kind of band.  Great Stuff!!

For me the ticket is Eurodance 90's.  Been listening to it while training for years.  Here's a couple examples followed by a link to one awsome collection of Eurodance.

FYI:  on youtube if you append "&fmt=18" (without the quotes) the end of URL you get the sound in stereo.

Enjoy!

I jam Smashing Pumpkins when I'm looking to zone out in a hard workout. Try "Rocket" "Today" and "Hummer" from their Siamese Dream album.

Others:
Saves The Day ("Can't slow down" album)
Offspring "No Brakes"
NoFX

Podrunner.  It's free on iTunes and there's a new 1 hour mix every week.  You can also download all of the previous mixes.  Good stuff.

I just dowloaded the song Beg Waves by the Ponytails. Sort of hyped-up indie surfer music but it definitely got me up the last monster hill of my 8 mile run the other day. Pure electricity.

Anything by Billy Idol.  Especially the dance mixes.

Can't help but get a boost from White Wedding or Rebel Yell or Catch my Fall.

I sincerly hope that I never have to suffer the indignity of the last selection.

If you want some upbeat current popish music try:

Girltalk

E-603

Super Mash Bros.

I always enjoy their music because of the consistent pace song to song.  No let up at all.
