Expert  908   Niskayuna, New York |  Subject: New to the area!My name is Rob, I just moved to Denver from New York. I just got here last night, but already am tempted to sign up for the Harvest Moon HIM. I feel like I've been working towards the distance all summer, and this looks like my last chance to go for it in 2009. Tough decision, considering I'm still settling in. |

There are people on this site who are doing the Harvest Moon and can shed some light about the course, etc. You have a nice weekend to start settling in and maybe test the waters with the altitude change. As for the Harvest Moon, good luck. It is a good race from all I've heard about it. Kind of a end of year race for many that do long course races. Have fun. |

My question is how quickly you'll adapt to the altitude. I think the race is only a week away and typically it takes 2-3 weeks to acclimate. Not to say you couldn't race it but you could certainly suffer more  . If you do it, it would be interesting to see how you do and what your experience is... |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: New to the area! I'm in the Cherry Creek area, love it so far. Thanks for the tips everyone. I went ahead a signed up for the race. I've never done a HIM before and didn't want to waste all the hard training so I'm going for it. Plus I was out running and biking today, and although they were brief workouts, I didn't feel any different than usual. I've heard its kinda individual how elevation affects you, so hopefully I'm quick to acclimate and I'll be good to go in a week. |
