Seeing as how the swim is only 300m, I wasn't going to wear my wetsuit, but now I'm second guesing that. Seemed to me like I would pick up enough speed over the short distance to sacrifice the time it takes to remove the wetsuit.
For those that have run the sprint in the past, do most of the competitors wear suits? Yes. A lower percentage than in bigger and longer races, but I think it's fair to say the majority wore them when I did the sprint in 2007 (including surfing wetsuits, that is ). The general rule of thumb is that you can pick up 7-10 sec. per 100 with a wetsuit...so for 300m, that could be 30 seconds...pretty hard to actually lose time on the suit removal with that kind of cushion (unless of course you just don't ever practice taking the thing off... ) |
