Subject: My 3rd OWS (pretty intense ;) )I kept thinking about an OWS all weekend and was dying to go out and complete on on Monday. I met up with 3 other people at the lake and took a glance at the Lake. wow!! White caps....lol and I would say about 1.5-2 foot waves. I am bad at estimating but they were crashing in pretty hard. I went in for a 10 foot swim and returned to the wall. I swalled a bit of water mostly because I was not used to the bouncing up and down of the waves. I went in for a another small swim but ended up going through a 1/2 mile loop around some poles. after a few minutes, I felt totally comfortable and kinda liked the feeling. Way different than a pool or calm day on the lake for sure. Sighting was pretty hard due to the waves being in my way but I managed to stay on track for the most part. I respect the water and know it is very dangerous. Might have been a little early for such a swim (swimming about 2 1/2 months ) but I just felt comfortable after a few minutes. I have learned that panic in the water only leads to more. Relax and go with the flow!! anyways, I know it is nothing amazing and probably most have swam in these conditions and way worse. Just glad to have had the experience and wanted to share it. Peace! |
