Leonard Wood, MO |  Subject: NEW IRONMAN Regensburg 2010Starting in 2010 the Bavarian city of Regensburg will host the third Ironman event in Germany in addition to the two Ironman races that already take place in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden. The inaugural race on August 1st 2010 serves as an official qualifying race for the Ford Ironman World Championship on Hawaii, awarding 50 slots for pro and age group athletes. IRONMAN Regensburg 2010 What's even cooler is that this is maybe 30 minutes or so from where I am currently stationed/living in Germany. It really is a beautiful city and from what the course shows. I know the area and it is nice. The climb on the bike near Walhalla will be pretty mean though. The top of the climb will look out of the Danube river valley though. |

When I did IMFL, there was a huge contingent from German over to do the race. Good news for you that it is so close to where you are stationed. |

Hello The last real race I did in Germany was the 11 ACR Cav 1/2 Marathon in and through Fulda! I did do a couple of 1 K-Zone 10 K's during our 33 day Border Duty Tour in the 3-11 ACR Sector while serving in the 3 AD. Wait I do to a beer run through the Octoberfest. HUP HUP HUP If they do that much for a HIM, I can only imagine what they will do for a IM. If you would like, I could import the hills from the Weisbaden one into Bavaria for you. I wish I was going to be here for that one...............dammit. |
