Someone told me you cannot use a GPS device or any other run tracking device during the run portion of a sactioned event, including the 70.3 series.  Has anyone heard of this before?

Nope, people use them all the time.

If the RD specifically states they are not allowed, they should announce that in their race packet and at the expo.  But I've never heard of it ..........

You can't use the audible metronome feature, this first came up during the New Orleans 70.3 prerace meeting and everyone ran with the metronome feature being turned off meant no GPS....

Rock your garmin all you want...

That makes sense - the person who told me had just finished New Orleans.  Thanks for the input.
