I have frequent stay points (enough for four nights) at the Holiday Inn. I see there's one in Clarksville, IN (North Louisville) which is about 2.5 miles from transition? Is this too far (plan on driving my car and parking it somewhere).

I stayed at the Galt House, so I can't speak of parking generally.  But when I was walking from the Galt to transition on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning I noticed plenty of parking spots along the way.

My gut instinct says it's too far, but I'm big on being as close as possible.  I also stayed at the Galt House and while it wasn't cheap, you couldn't beat being at the host hotel.

That hotel is just over the 2nd st bridge! we camp right next door to it and love it.  True we are not seconds from everything but we have a scooter and zip around very quickly.  Louisville is small so you can park and walk everywhere.

It'll be great. There is plenty of parking near the transition area so that won't be a problem at all. The only problem is that the second street bridge (the one to your hotel) will be shut down during the run portion of the race, so if you have family that wants to go back to the hotel they will need to learn an alternate route (ie I-65 bridge). But that shouldn't be a big deal.

Yeah, I saw plenty of people parking around the transition area, without much trouble, it appeared.  You'll miss out on a little of the excitement of being 'right there', but no big deal.  (We stayed in the Hilton right across from the finish line.  I procrastinated and didn't make a reservation until 1 week before, and this turned out to be a good 'plan', as the last-minute rates were really cheap!)

I stayed at the Marriott Towne Suites across the 2nd street bridge in Jeffersonville, IN.  It was a short 15 min. drive to the race site.  There's plenty of parking around the race site.  We never had any problem parking during the days leading up to the race nor on race morning.
