Subject: RE: CaveMan Triathlon : Official Threadse7930 - 2010-04-21 7:53 AM
The Caveman tri this weekend will be my first triathlon. After reading some of the posts here and some of the reviews of last years race, I am a little concerned about the swim portion of the race. I am a fairly decent swimmer and can handle the 275 without issue, and I understand they line people up by the swim times they submitted (which I submitted about 30 seconds slower than I can actually do the 275).
Can someone tell me how they send off the swimmers? last years race had over 400 people and to send them off 1 by 1 must take some time? how long do the give the person in front before sending the next? Is this the reason I have heard of people having issues with slower swimmers in front of them?
Thanks
They send 1 person off every 5-10 seconds (it varies by race ). Your race number will be your place in the line. So yea, if you're significantly faster than the people ahead of you, you're going to have to try to pass them in the lane. My suggestion is to try to catch them at the wall where they're more likely to stop & let you by, especially if people are going up & down the same lane. |
