so far all I know about this brand is that they are the house brand for performance bikes and made in the same shop as Fuji's (?)

I picked up a T-560 a month ago and love it.  I have not been able to find many reviews on the bike either.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm kind of a name brand wh!@#. That said, I think if you can live with the "generic" it's just as good. Most bikes are coming out of the same 3 factories in China these days unless you spend obcene amounts of $$$. So really, it's all about the components.

As Muelen said, almost 90% of all bikes imported to the US come out of 3 factories, so the fact that it's made by the same people as Fuji doesn't tell me a lot. In any case though, the Scatante brand isn't a bargain basement Wal-Mart special by any means. It'll be a fine bike (as long as it fits).

And if you can get past the "scat" part...

I was on a budget at the time and for what I paid for it ($850.00) I thought I got a good deal for what it came with.

My first bike was the R550???  I rode it my entire first season all the way up to the HIM distance.  It later became my commuter bike to and from work.  Now it is in the basement collecting dust.  I hope to resurrect it into a basic cyclocross bike.  In other words, I put my though a lot and it keeps on ticking.  Don't sweat the name, just ride the darn thing.

Agree with what's been said.  Performance uses proven materials/geometries as most others, then has the ability to hang parts on them cheaper than anyone else, probably because they deal in large volumes of parts as a retail store.  Comparing "name brand" to Scattante when buying a bike for my fiance, it seemed that for the same $$ you got equal frame type with a level up in components with the scattante vs 'name brand".

Its probably a lot like their house brand parts and clothing...they don't innovate, they just copy what's out there and can sell it cheaper.

Scattantes are a reputable make, just stay away from the no names you can get online

the chinese and taiwanese shops have pretty decent quality for aluminum, steel and titanium frames, however not sure about carbon, I realize most carbon frames are also made in asia, but the manufacturing tolerances in my opinion are greater for carbon, for carbon, I definitely suggest the bigger makes

I've got a 2009 Scattante CFR that I bought in November.  Comp model I think.  For what I paid (around $1200) I got Ultegra fd/rd (6600), 105 brifters and an FSA SL-K crank.  There are also some downspec components on the bike, in particular the wheels (A-Class 270s) and brakes (Tektro crapolas).  The bars, stem, seatpost, tires and other bits are Forte, the Performance housebrand stuff.  Not too bad, but nothing fancy.  I upgraded the wheelset and now use the a-class wheels as trainers on my tri bike.  The brakes are the worst, and I'm currently deciding what to upgrade them with (suggestions welcome).

Here's the deal.  For what I paid, I could have bought a used bike with a brand name frame and probably a full ultegra build; especially if I'd been willing to look at aluminum.  At the time I bought the Scattante I thought I needed a carbon frame.  I now know better.  But I really wanted to buy a new bike, mostly because I've made the mistake of buying a bike that didn't fit me in the past, and for what I was willing to spend I would have ended up with a Tiagra build on most of the big name bikes, maybe some 105.  So I bought new at the local Performance shop, got properly fitted and now go there regularly to have things tweaked and adjusted.  Never any charge for that.

As far as riding goes, the bike works great (other than the junk brakes).  I do sometimes feel selfconcious about the fact that I'm riding a Scattante rather than a Trek/Specialized/Cannondale or whatever, but that's mostly because I am a little brand sensitive, not because anyone gives me any grief from riding a Scattante.  I'll confess a secret: sometimes the fact that I am riding this bike motivates me to train harder.  If I'm going to ride a Scattante, at least I am going to be FAST!

lazy,
not to highjack this one, but if you like shimano go with ultegra brakes, good value and if you upgrade the pads even better

I'm actually the opposite when it comes to brands, I'd rather be riding something that few recognize.  My tri bike is an aluminum KHS which has been making bikes just about as long as Giant in Taiwan.  Welds and carbon parts are just as good as anything out there.  Also, all my other road bikes are steel from small manufacturers.

If the Scattante makes you train harder, stick with it.  Would you rather go with a carbon Cervelo and train less thinking you have an advantage?  I will only go carbon when my equipment limits my abilities significantly.   Only comment I have for carbon, they sure are pretty aren't they?

I've had my kicked by guys riding Scattante's.

So, my only response was to secretly think  "yeah, but they're riding Scat".

Yeah, that is a sweet ride..  Looks pretty fast.  After seeing this (which I stumbled into while researching Scat, lol), I hopped on PB site and saw the XRL frame for only $329.  I didn't know Scat had a TT bike in there lineup.  I am looking at getting a Carbon Road Race bike before the end of the year, and I am considering the 2010 Scat Carbon CFR Race Bike.  I seen a lot of guys on the road here in Tucson riding Scats and are very happy with them.

well, after having my bike for a month I am loving it.  Worlds difference betwwen this bike and my old road bike.   Biggest thing I have noticed is that I am going farther than before on my rides, and my legs are not shot afterwards during my run.

What is the geometry for the Scattante Tri bike? Seat post angle in particular. I could not find any info on their website & got no response to an email I sent them. Anybody got the info or know where I can find it? Thanks.
