Pre-race routine:

easy warm up run. had a bananna and some gatorade before race today. upset my stomach a little. may have just been nerves.
Swim
  • 07m 35s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

best swim I've had yet. spotting was dead on. I felt fast, strong and in control. It was an excellent set up for the rest of the race.
What would you do differently?:

go faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m 39s
Bike
  • 45m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 15.80 mile/hr
Comments:

need more time on the bike, bottom line. I won't get faster staring at the damn thing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

transitions getting much smoother now. don't feel as rushed or panicked during a changeover.
Run
  • 21m 52s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 22s  min/km
Comments:

slowest 5k on record for me. didn't run that slow as a freshman in high school. just shows how beastly the course was that after the bike I wanted to die and still had a 5k to go. usually I never have that kind of thought run through my head.
What would you do differently?:

get out faster, get the legs loose sooner, run till I blow up. it's just one race anyway, may as well see what it takes to put me in the back of an ambulance.
Post race
Event comments:

a good race overall with high and low points. I still have alot to learn about triathlon.

Good job!  It was pretty hot that day.  I'd take a 21:52 5K any day of the week.  But then again you're over 1/2 my age so ..... Oops the 50 year old woman who finished 2nd to me on Sunday ran a 20:43 5K.  I guess I can't use the old age excuse.  I'm just a slow runner in comparision. :-)

Congrats on the hardware.
