I think it's the final dumbing down of the evening news. Her interviews at the Olympic were terrible. Putting it into perspective: this is why I don't watch network news - NewsHour is my oasis in this sea of trash tv. Katie isn't fit to type Gwen Ifill's grocery list. Think about it...all you're doing is reading and engaging the audience. That's it. She's not reporting, she won't be interviewing. She doesn't have to worry about asking tough questions or even being "fair and balanced." She just has to be cute and read. |

There is so much info out there and yet all the evening newscasts are the same. They are all afraid to not have a story the other networks are covering. The newsreporters (e.g. O'Reilley, Wolf Blitzer) have become part of the stories themselves. I like Katie Couric. She seems fairly intelligent. But when the news is filtered crap with massive reporter bias what difference does it make who dishes it out? Scandals amidst some of our white dudes in suits (whatsisname from 60 minutes) should convince us that very few of these folks are not swayed by the ratings. For what I feel is less biased reporting, I read the Economist. |
