Pre-race routine:

Ate breakfast, drove to the race. Got me and my dad signed in and my mom settled for photography duties. Found Renee and Christine. Renee was on the same plan as me a 9:1 run walk so we planned to try to run together. Stretched as best I could.
Event warmup:

Comments:

We all started out together but Christine left us in her dust. We fell into a 9:1 run walk. At the first mile we were at about 11:15 pace. During our second walk break this guy passes us and say "oh you can't walk keep going" I said "we are sticking to the plan, My coach will be mad if I don't stick to the plan" Mile 2 still at an 11:15 pace. Mile 3 we were at 33 minutes and change. Between miles 3-4 we pass the keep going guy and he says "the plan is working" Too funny :) Mile 4 at 45 minutes exactly you guessed it 11:15 pace. Towards the end Renee took off a little ahead of me. We had caught Christine at one point but she went on ahead. We were all about 100 yards from each other. As I was running the last 1/4 mile I hear "DR. Ott Dr. Ott" It was a patient of mine yelling for me. I was kinda of shooting for 55 minutes but would be happy under 56. I sprinted at the end and my HR was 190 when I finished!!! Got another stupid blister :( Ran the last mile in 10:28..a negative split!!

What would you do differently?:

Not much. I forgot my cooler at the house so I couldn't carry a water bottle as planned. It was HOT and very little breeze. Thanks goodness it was overcast. I need to find a blister solution. At least only one foot is getting blisters now.
Post race
Warm down:

Caught my breath, drank a bunch of water. Found My parents (my dad did the 1 mile walk) We got some food and then Renee, Jeff, Terri and my rents all went to parenas for breakfast.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of running experience. Blister

Event comments:

This was the first year for this race. It was well organized.

YAY Sue and Dad!! That is so cool.

I'm glad you passed the keep going guy.  I HATE it when people say stuff to people who are stopping or slowing down...obviously there is a good reason for it, and you don't know why, so why say something????? People are so stupid!

How did your hip feel when you were running? You didn't mention it in your RR, so I guess it wasn't too much of a problem. Glad you girls had a good race. I looooove Panera!

Nice race Sue, glad you could have mom and dad there too!

Gotta watch out for Christine.  She complains she's out of shape, can't fit into a bikini, etc...and then she runs away from everyone during the race!
