Pre-race routine:

Breakfast(raisin bran), gatorade and stretching. Get to race hour before start time to get primo parking at start/finish line. Get event bag, put on number and timer, strategic bathroom break(of course)
Event warmup:

Very light run on course, 15 min., some serious stretching

Comments:

This run was hard, and I did not push my pace at all and was just trying to finish. Even the almost jogging pace kicked my butt for some reason. I just never got it going.
What would you do differently?:

Actually train for a few weeks in advance, not just go out and do a couple long runs a week and a half before the race so I wouldn't die doing it.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of running miles in advance of race, some problem going on with my hips seriously tightening up on distances over 6 miles.(painful and limiting), little desire to go fast today, just settled for finishing.

Event comments:

This is a tough race, but a very good setup, place to run and the park has a great atmosphere. This may be the hardest race I do all year, which is a shame because it is only early April. They should do another one later in the season as well.(Sept. perhaps)

Fantastic run, Dwayne, considering you had diddly-squat for training going into it.  Uninjured, healthy, and that much closer to being done with school.  I'll cast my vote for 'successful race'.

Nice work.
