drunkenness......right or wrong?

Right, of course!!! But if we get it wrong, does that imply drunkenness??? I was going to swear off alcohol for at least the next 90 days...

Just thought I would say that I had a great run today.  In April I injured my Achilles and then when that started to mend, my PF started hurting.  I had never had problems with either of these, I think it was my old shoes.  So saturday I bought new shoes.  I ran 12 miles in them sunday, and was a little nervous because the ball of my foot started hurting and even tho, I specifically got a shoe with a wider toe box (blisters were another problem my old shoes had), I still got blisters.  I ran in them again tuesday and things were a little better...no more achilles pain and PF seems ok...ball of foot still has less support than I like...but Today's run felt nearly effortless.  I am still not as fast as I have been before, but I took 3 min. off my 10k time between tues. and today...and I barely felt winded at the end.  I mean, I did push myself, but last week I felt really knocked out...and today I just felt like I had a good run!  I feel like this was the breakthru I had been waiting for.  Hopefully from here on out I just keep getting faster with now injuries!  Just thought I would share!

Very nice run!!! (PF), you talking about Planter's Fasciitus??? I used to get that quite a bit... The only thing that really helped was putting my feet through the paces of constant running. Thereby, desensitizing either heel/arch/ball/ankle. Speed of the runs also seemed to be a factor, and whether or not I was doing "dreadmill" work or out on the open road.

Good evening skinnies! I have some fantastic news!!

I recently had some blood tests...glucose, cholesterol, the whole she-bang. I had been putting it off for several months because the last time I had my cholesterol checked (3 1/2 years ago), I was very close to heart attack stage. See?

2004 results
Triglycerides: 146
HDL: 44
LDL: 164
Total: 238

This time was different

2008 results
Triglycerides: 156
HDL: 46
LDL: 114
Total: 191

I no longer have high cholesterol and my glucose is normal, too. I never believed docs when they said that exercise could lower cholesterol and now I'm a poster child for it. I made a resolution in January that this was going to be my fittest year ever. I do believe that these test results have sealed the deal for me This is almost better than losing the 35 pounds I have in the last year!

Like I've said before, you're doing such a wonderful job. Keep it up!!!

Well, monday is almost here... Trying to (re-)start another 90 days. What do you say, saling?

You up for the 90 day challenge? (now that you have the program and all)

p.s. everything has been restored (power), finally! And, I'm about 3 days behind, with no sympathy from the prof's who are also 3-5 days behind. I guess it could be worse?!?!?!?!?

I need to get a pullup bar and I was planning to start Oct 1st,  That way I can get through my current challenge thread and make sure I have my stuff together:  equipment, diet, etc.  Then I will try to kill myself.

I did it!! I ran FIVE whole miles (well 5.032 to be exact)..nonstop!! That is the longest I have EVER RUN!!!! And when I was done I was like, oh, guess next time I can push myself a little harder...then I was like WHAT??? Did I just say that!! I guess since it was the first time I have ever run that far, I started out very slowly and picked up speed as I went along..but now I know what 5 miles feels like when I am done so I know I can run just a TAD bit faster.

Also, this is also the first time I have ever run with an ampiphod belt..it had the two little bottles and a little pouch for other stuff. I do have to say, what a handy little tool!!! I never had to think about water until I was reaching back to get it..the belt never shifted or anything, and it held my keys, cellphone, cliffshot (didnt need it), inhaler and watch. I mean, what more do you need!!!

All in all, it was a GREAT run, the weather was good too..74 degrees, variable clouds, light breeze. It was like the running Gods were telling me that running for a long time is not that bad if you are prepared and are willing to stretch yourself just a little. And I ran in a part of my neighborhood that I have NEVER been in and it was pleasant..I didnt know there were cute little lakes back there! Doh!!

Anyhoo, GREAT run...looking forward to my next run (tomorrow) and my next long run next wekend..WOW!!

Great job Maku!!!  5 miles is a good run and I kick myself every now and again when I think "I could have went farther or faster.".  It happens every time I run or bike.

Found two things in my basement tonight.

First was my scale.

It read... now get this.... 221 SurprisedYellCry

This is the most I have ever weighed and I have no one to blame but me.

Then when I finished crying I found my bike sitting under the dust on my computrainer. So I got in a short 30 min ride to see what it felt like again.

So, have you decided to go with bands or d-bells??? I really think both are best with this program... They also help in the adaptability dept. You be able to see where you've been and how your strength has grown if you start with the bands and move to the bells.

i commute all year round josh - the pleasure of living in the uk i guess! work has been busy and i've had a few ups and downs with my silly head but things have calmed down somewhat and i am now on a rolling rota of doing 4 days one week and 5 the next which gives me more me time. so priorities now are starting swimming more regularly and also losing a few pounds just to tone up a bit.

how are you coping with school?

runningwoof - Congrats on the great run.  It's always good to get back up to speed, and injury free too!  Make sure you take care of that body and keep the injury bug away.

tricupcake - Great news about the cholesterol!  Keep up the good work.

kromanowski - Sorry to hear you have to postpone the tri events.  Glad to hear you are going to keep training and running events in your schedule though.

comet - Your dog (if it's yours) is adorable.

Makukula - Good work on the personal best distance.  I often feel that way too when I hit a personal best (distance or time) for myself.  I start thinking...I can go longer or faster next time!

I had a great weekend myself.  I ran my first 5k event.  It was the Susan G. Komen - Race For the Cure.  Check my log for my splits and times.  Overall I am happy with it, even though I wished the other 9,999 people would have kindly made room for me at the start!

Yesterday I did a nice 12 mile bike ride down a riverside trail in my area.  The weather was perfect all weekend.

I have my first Triathlon planned for 13 days from today!  It is a Sprint event with a slightly longer bike (400m/15m/5k).  I am already nervous and it's 2 weeks away.  Hopefully the weather that weekend is just as good as it was this weekend.

Hi all, hope everyone had a good weekend.  I got in 30 miles on the bike on Saturday and a little over 3 miles running yesterday.  I hope there are some positive results on Wednesday's weigh in.  I have the Big Dam Bridge ride this coming Saturday.  I'm contemplating the 50 mile rather than the 32 mile ride. What do ya'll think?

Toader - Never fear I will be back to tri training once I learn how to run a little better Smile

I am so happy you decided to do that tri...I don't think you will regret it...but I do think you will be fully addicted after that.

Incredibly busy but in a good way. But there have been times I should have got in a workout and didn't so I can't let myself off the hook completely.

Way to go Maku!!!! It is awesome when you get to a new distance that you have never gone before and say "That wasn't so bad...I can do more!"  That is exactly the spirit that makes us triathletes!
