This is like the official beginning of workout days for most...let's go group! I know for me it will be a swimming day at the Y, it is 10 degrees out with 30mph winds. I'm not going out there to run!

I will check on everyone later.

Amy in Indiana

Swimming at the Y is what I may do today....too....it is a balmy 44 degrees here....that is warm to most of you (Amy in Indiana)...but to me....it is frickin cold! Hope everyone is starting the new years off with the workout program you picked! 2008 is my get in shape year. I am proud to say that my sister also got the "get in shape" bug and she said she is thinking of also doing a tri. She went to her first spin class today....

HAPPY 2008! Go out and make this the best year ever! TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN!

Well, the new year is off to a great start. I'm sitting here killing time on BT waiting for a wrecker to come get me.  For the 2nd time in a week, my work Tahoe won't start.  Last time, I was able to jump it off and had no more problems.  But--this morning, I've spent the better part of 2 hrs trying to get it going.  I brought my trainer and bike inside from the garage to get in a ride while I waited but the guy should be here in "45 mins".  We'll see if that's true or not.  I need to run today and lift.

I have a run planned for today. It should be about 65 when I head out. 77 is the forcasted weather for today. (Sorry, Amy)

Julie, did you mention that you would be in SD in March? Do you know when yet? Emerson and his wife will be here on the 8th and the 15th. I am doing a small tri the morning of the 8th. Any interest in doing that? And will try for lunch with the Knowles one of the two days. Let me know.

Hey All, just checking in real quick. Trying to get over the New year's hangover of Waaaaayyyy toooo many patients at work. We were close dto ambulances for hours, but still getting plenty of walk ins. If I saw one more person who had vomited and then come in with stomach pain from drinking I was going to go crazy. Of course these are the people that would get pissed when they had to wait 4 hours for a bed. Stayed late NYE so I didn't workout and today I'm just catching up on sleep.
Looks like evryone's off to a good start for the year. I'll be back in the groove tomorrow and I'll be setting up my challenge. Have a great Weds(it Weds right?) all. Chris

Man Chris...sounds like a lovely start to your new years! ;o) I can not imagine the patience you must have to deal with some of those self inflicting over-indulging partiers!?! I would definitely not make good ER material. I would want to kill them...and that would probably not be the right attitude in the ER.... ;o) Soooo, my hats off to you and to any other medics, ER, or nurses...let me thank you if they did not! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Amy, not sure when in April. I will get back to you...this race is sounding VERY VERY interesting! Can you send me a link or a name for this race. Would be great fun to be able to start the race with you...(as I know that I will be far FAR behind you at the finish!) ;o). I just spoke with my daughter and she said that she wanted me to do a race in Lajolla in April is that the same race? she is doing a half marathon...and there is a 5 and 10k also...let me know...it would be fun!

Pam, run, run and run some more if you can not swim....two days is not bad to run in a row...just do not over do it and make sure to stretch really well before and after! Nice job on your past run....keep it up!

Eric...good luck with your car...sucks to be at the mercy of a tow truck driver....they can take forever...which on the other hand may be good for you...you will get a longer work out on your treadmill! Good luck with getting your Tahoe fixed...I am actually thinking of buying a tahoe...besides the latest breakdowns...do you like it? or is this a bad time to be asking this!?!? )

Indiana Amy...thanks for always encouraging me! I do not think that there has been a day that has gone by that you have not sent a nice message with some inspiring words! Hope that I can return the favor....you ROCK!

Dee- know you are busy - but miss your inspiring and glittery messages! hope that things are ok...and your dads health is better.

Mike....are you working out? I know you said that you wanted to start the new year right...hope you are able to reach your goals set!

Off to go on a short run.....

Hi Julie!

Yes, the challenge has been keeping me busy lately. It'll be crazy the first week, then it'll slow down. (I'm still getting the latecomers assigned to teams, updating the spreadsheets, supervising the team threads, etc.) That said, I think we need to name Beth the official "BT Hostess." (Her favorite saying is, "Welcome to the Challenge! Dee will get you on a team.")

Dad is doing better now. Thanks! (Well, I think he's driving Mom crazy, but that just means he's feeling better, right? LOL)

It was even crazier during the November challenge. I did that one on my own, and people had up to 6 different goals. There were about 115 people. I thought I was going to lose my mind with all the different spreadsheets.

(Beth just asked me how many people are in this challenge. I haven't counted them yet though.)

I think that your group and mine are now having a posting challenge? (But you guys have Beth. No one can beat her post padding. LOL)

Plus, it was crazy at work today.... BUT -->

I did get a swim in today, too. Had to help my team get off to a good start.

Amy of El Cajon, Ca, in looking over your note.  Let's just figure all of us having some sort of brunch or lunch on the 15th.  If you are doing a tri in the AM, we will just head for the port and be off.  But, the boat docks early on the 15th so we will be can stop on the way back to Tucson.  I have a 1/2 marathon the morning of the 16th but a stop will not make any difference.  We can put the details together in late February.  Good luck with your January Challenge.  I will be in the pool tomorrow morning and it will be quite the joke...

Julie - signing up for the first race is "very" exciting, just wait until you run it, I'm thinking you will become an addict too.

Good job!

Julie - Thanks on the pic, that's me and my son, He is a very good son, big football player and shot put/track athlete, also very respectful to everyone.

Uuummm, your in big trouble with the addict thing. I thought I was addicted when I started training, then I did my first triathlon, omg. I'm very excited for you, enjoy every part of the experience, and race with a hugh smile on your face!

I'm still waiting for it to get above 20 degrees to run outside today.

Do you want to do a tri or a running race? The tri I would like to do in April is the Toyota Desert tri in the desert somewhere. I have not signed up yet. It is 4/20. Let me know.

Hi Amy...I am not sure that I would be ready for a tri....even a sprint!!? but I would like to know more. My daughter has been trying to get me to come to San Diego for the past few months and when I told her she was very excited! she may do it too! I was hoping you were participating in a running race instead...but a tri is do-able.....

DID I JUST SAY THAT!?!?!?!?! )
