Good thoughts to Melanie for dealing with life's challenges!

As always, Janyne. You are amazing. I don't know how you keep up with us. Thank you for the work you do for our pod.

Go racers!!!! (Go me!)

ETA: And speaking of me . . . the lake temperature is 82F. Holy Cripes. I'm hot just thinking about it.

And I'm just a tad nervous. This will be my first full oly (because of the cancelled swim last month). This will be my third time on this course, so I've been running through the course in my mind. Because of our Texas travels this week, I won't be able to get to the course until Sunday morning, so no chance for a run through of everything. Although, I am going to try to get in the lake for a practice swim early Sunday morning (Race starts at 7:00 a.m., so it will have to be butt crack early). Two swim loops (of what I'm pretty sure is a short swim course, based on my swim time last year); two bike loops up and over a dam on chip seal roads; two run loops through a ridiculously flat run course through the campground. This course is made for me. (Calming myself down. Calming myself down.)

Sounds like an awesome race, other than the chip seal but you can handle that no prob! You've got this!!!!!!

Exactly. I train on them every ride. Yell

I thought of you while on my *hot* afternoon ride yesterday. I thought if you can do the heat AND humidity ALL DAY in Houston, I can do the dry heat for an hour!

Super special Manatee shout-out to Jayne and Chris, who rocked with 100% Jogo's for 30 days!!!

Does this mean that with my swim this morning I am 30/30? That's not good. I can't be done. Gojo is a big part of my consistency!!!!!!!

Just say the words and I will extend your participation. I just don't assume anyone wants more than 30 days.

I just saw this too...  but I think the DH would possibly kill me, and besides having NO hills around to really train on unless I rent a car every weekend and drive out to the burbs... I'm thinking of doing Florida next year.

Yanti - I am speechless (that never happens with me).  Hang in there, things will definitely get better.  If you ever want (or need) someone  to chat with, I'm always down for that (I'm really curious about your accent).  We can do a Google Hangout!

Also thought I would tell you that I may be the only person here that thinks your cats are ugly.  Their ears are HUGE!  Maybe they will grow into those things, but if not... poor kitties.  Just so you know, I'm a cat person, and I own cat and my cat is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy cuter than those big eared things.  Tongue out

Are any of you Manatees interested in doing a Manatee "hangout" on Google? - I think you can have up to 10 people at a time in a Google Hangout... (it's like skype, only better).  Would be kind of cool I think.

Switch:  Those weasels and that snapping turtle are awesome - where do you live?

YOU'RE A CRAZY CAT LADY! I knew it.

Oh no. I think kittens and babies are ugly (there are a few exceptions--Wondermoose's baby was one). Usually I just say stuff like AAAAAW look she has your nose! and smile. I love babies ... and kittens ... I just think they are really weird awkward alien-wacko looking things.

Yep, my kid is adorable! She wanted to climb a tree with her older cousins over the weekend.  Daredevil, that child.

tree baby

Best pic ever.

Thanks, Jo.  I love it.  Totally captures her personality.

Thanks also to Melanie, TJ, Monica, and Felicia.  I love her little purple (fake) Keens.  I wish mine were a more exciting color now.

I got to do PP for the first time last year and it was such a great race!  Though I did the sprint last year and this year the DH goaded me into signing up for the Olympic.  I'm not sure I'm happy about that, but oh well, it'll still be fun!

Did you get a chance to go to REI yet?

Mine does the same thing.  *rolling my eyes at him right now even though he's at work and can't see me*

Though I also talk him into signing up for silly things too - like the 50 miler in Chicago in November.

I ended up signing up for the one on July 28th. It's in Richmond (rather than 1.5 hours away) and I've done it before.  I think that will help.

We just need someone that can draw to create the design... I can do stick people and even go so far as to differentiate between the boy stick figure and the girl stick figure by drawing the triangle skirt, but that's the limit of my artistic abilities.

I'm glad I'm here too - you Manatees are the bestest!

I just saw this too...  but I think the DH would possibly kill me, and besides having NO hills around to really train on unless I rent a car every weekend and drive out to the burbs... I'm thinking of doing Florida next year.

Getting out of the city once in awhile isn't a bad thing ...

Believe me, I know - but not having a car, living in the city, and being less than 3 blocks from the lakefront trail doesn't give much incentive to go through the pain-in-the-assness of trying to get out to the burbs.

Having said that, I am trying to set up a couple of bike dates with a friend who lives about 60 miles away... in the hills... lots and lots of hills.
