Jen, did you see the RTC newsletter thing about the group ride skills or what ever it's called at West Creek that starts 5/17? I think I'm going to call the lady cause I could probably use that. Sounds like I'd pick up a lot of handling stuff and helpful info.

No, I'll have to check that out.  I have reasonably good handling unless I'm riding in a pack.  Not my favorite thing.

I got back from a 34 mile ride and then lunch with some of the team members.  Fun.  Too bad I forgot to wear sunscreen.  I have sunburn and a farmer tan...yuck.

Sooo, does this make me a mean and unreasonable mom or a good mom?

C's friends call him to go to a movie

C: Mom - can I go to a movie

Me: Do you have any money

C: no, I spent it all

Me: soooooooooo, how were you planning on paying? can you use your movie certificate

C: no, it's for a different theatre

Me: ok, so can you go to that theatre?

C: I'll see

a flurry of text messaging and IM's ensue

C: no, but can I trade you, I'll give you the certificate and you can use it for a movie sometime

Me: ok, but let me ask you - is the movie you are going to one you really want to see?

C: ummmm, no, not really

Me: so, who is going? do you like them?

C: well, I like some of them..........

Me: ok - so, it's your choice, but in my opinion, if I were you, I'd be saving that certificate to use for a movie that I really wanted to see and I would go see it with people that I wanted to be with - let me know what you decide

C: ok, let me think about it

friends called to see the status - he told them he is not going - he told me, we need a family night

I think that makes me a good mom and not a meanie

I also think that more parents owe it to there children to point things like this out to them - I know, call me crazy! It won't be the first time
