Because I NEVER talk about my kids...

Keri recently retested for their guided reading groups. She moved up 2 levels! She was on the same level all of last year. Since she is getting help in school she enjoys reading now. I am so happy for the kid, she is doing so wel!!!

We've talked about Caleb and the bullying, right? Caleb and I play a game on our iDevices. In this game you can be part of a Clan, and there is a chat feature. I am a clan leader, Caleb and a few others are Elders. There is a mix of kids and adults in our clan. Anyway... last night Caleb was on chatting with people, when I couldn't. One of the kids said he was having a rough night. Caleb asked him what was wrong. They got to talking, and it turns out the kid is being bullied. He was beat up after school. Caleb told him he needs to tell his mom. The kid said he tried but she doesn't really listen. Caleb told him to tell a teacher he trusts, a friends mom, someone who will listen. He told him that if there wasn't anyone there he could tell that Caleb would have his mom (me) contact this boys mom. Caleb said he was confident I would push until things were taken care of. He told the kid to hang in there, and take care of himself. The kid is going to Disney World for the next week to see his grandparents, so I won't know until he gets back how things are going. I hope it he gets it worked out, and I would contact his mom if he asked me to.

That is fantastic about Keri and reading! 

It is also fantastic that Caleb has the confidence to reach out to this boy and to know that he can rely on you. 

You DO have GREAT kids, but in large part that is because you are doing a GREAT job!  It is not easy, so congrats to you!

great mileage!  My gas guzzler gets 13 mpg.      So I just use it here in town.

I am setting up a fly fishing day for Jim while we are in Key West. He requested that for his Christmas present. Sheesh. it is expensive. But then, heck, he puts up with my shyte all the time. I am going to book it for Thursday. That way, Ann will be there the next day and we can all play.

I think kayaking together would be lovely!

YEA PLAYTIME!!!

Heck yeah! I am so excited to go to KW! I think hubby's going to come with--we just need to find someone to be with the kids. which is not as easy as you would think it should be.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday!  I managed to push myself to stay peachy for 5 whole days now.  Hoping to be peachy right thru the New Year!  If the weather is not too nasty, I might even do a year2year run.

Good morning Ghoulies!

Keri lost a tooth last night during basketball practice. We have NEVER done the tooth fairy thing. I've tried, the kids just didn't want to give up their teeth. Last night Keri said she was going to leave her tooth for the tooth fairy. I was not prepared for this at all! I did manage to find a dollar in the ashtray of my car. We knew she was a light sleeper, so I said I'd slip into her room around 4:00 am. I woke her up. She asked what I was doing, I told her I was just checking on her like she asked me to. She said ok, but she watched me until I left. I never got the tooth or left the dollar.

She had asked my husband several times last night if he was the tooth fairy. It's 19 sleeps until Christmas, do I tell her the truth?

She is testing. Next will be Santa.Tell her about the tooth fairy, hold out on Santa.

Jim was close heartbroken when his kids finally figured it all out. But, being a giant kids, we all still have Santa visit around here. It is funny, sometimes the kids get up really early and put Santa gifts out, too We have actually met and awkwardly pretend that we are getting a glass of water or something an re-group and pretend we don't hear each other putting out presents. It is fun.

She slept in this morning, Donnie is home today so he didn't wake her. She was probably tired from me waking her this morning. She called me when she woke up and asked me if I was the tooth fairy, she said she wanted the truth, so I told her. I asked her not to go to school and tell everyone, this close to Christmas I don't want more kids than necessary putting 2 and 2 together.

I remember when Caleb found out, although I think he always suspected. He was 3 and pointed out I used the same wrapping paper as Santa. He has always helped keep the secret. He likes to stay up after Keri goes to bed and put the presents out, and eat the cookies. I will miss having that in the house.

It is kind of a let down the first year, then you can find a way to make it fun again. The whole bunch of us trying to sneak around and leave presents without anyone seeing is fun. I have a sign on the mantle that says "if you don't believe in Santa you get underwear". The nieces that use to spend Christmas here with us, were way too cool for Santa. I got them teeny, tiny little stockings and on Christmas morning, they got those filled with underwear instead of the large stockings filled with presents and candy. They pouted. It was great!

I think I've done it wrong all these years. We have always wrapped the presents from Santa, but other people have told me that they don't. I don't know, and it probably doesn't matter. Now that she knows about the tooth fairy it is only a matter of time. I was hoping to make it through 1 more Christmas though.

You can't do Santa wrong, as long as the right spirit is there!  Hopefully she will get caught up in the Christmas excitement and let go of trying to figure it out for this Christmas!
