Will the warm up help if I then have to stand around for my start? I had planned to carry only minimal water in my aero bottle but that will be harder to regulate if I ride there and don't have my car to store supplies. I'd have to carry extra shoes, my bib, supplies in a bag on my back? Where would I put those during the race? What bag? A shoe bag? My Tri bag? A camelback?Thoughts?
Are you asking it wanting to know if your muscles will still be warmed up? if so, How long will you have to wait around? I ran a couple of miles this am before meeting with my running group. The time between the 2 runs was about 30 minutes and I still felt warmed up from the 2 when we started the main run. Any longer than that and I don't think that would have been the case. As far as water goes, I guess there's no chance of there being a water source at the staging area. If not, 10 miles isn't a lot of miles, so I normally wouldn't worry about. However, I know you are having a heat wave, so if by "planned to carry only minimal water ..." You mean that there is more room in the bottle, add water. If that means the aero bottle is full, but that is a minimal amount, then can you carry a bottle on the frame? It will add some weight, but I doubt make enough of a difference to really affect your ride - at least not as much as becoming dehydrated.

. I'm guessing by the other questions that the TT is a warm up for a run (?). If you don't feel comfortable leavin g them in a bag at the staging site - which I can fully understand, do you have one of those bags that sometimes get handed out with the race packages and which can be worn on your back? They're generally pretty light. I've never tried to run with one though and have a feeling that unless you pack it tightly it may drive you crazy as all the gear bounces around in the bag during the run portion of your outing.

Thanks Hands. I don't have a run planned. I thought I might need regular shoes, flipflops maybe, for the standing around parts of the day. Which raises another question... What would I do with my bike during the standing around parts. There is a pro TT speaker and giveaways after the race.

This isn't gonna be the answer you were looking for, but...if biking there was going to add stress or worry, I would probably drive, and do my warm up on site.  I'm a wimpy control-freak like that though :/

I'm impressed by your willingness to be so flexible.

You are welcome.  I hope you feel better soon.

We Canuckians are so helpful like that!

I hope you feel better soon.  Even if the kittehs are freaky-looking (Peppa more than Salty.. Peppa looks like a super freak with those ears!), they're still super cute and you're making me want one, even though that would be such a bad idea in our teeny 500sq/ft studio.

FYI - I think I want the pink skulls too... even my motorcycle jacket has a skull on the back of it!

Nice Back side pack.

Mon, the BT 2013 Girls thread got bumped again.  Why don't you throw those poor boys a bone and post this pic over there?

Yanti, is this some sort of conspiracy to make me want another kitty?  These two are ridiculously cute.  Yeah, yeah, the ears are ginormous, but for fach's sake--ADORABLE.  I'm particularly partial to Little Salty.  Her little white salty hair makes her look so soft and snugly.  I want to just nuzzle her, and I've kinda been allergic to cats since my second pregnancy.

I would also like to add that I want to know the other set of book titles in the stack behind the one Peppa's on.  His stack is awesomely random!

I'm sorry you've been feeling poopy. Hopefully, by the time you're reading this you'll be well on the upswing.  It's really hard for me to ever feel to sorry for you because you live in faching Bali, and have, what seems to this outsider to be, an extraordinarily rich life.  Even (especially?) with a puking Mutti (I haven't actually seen her yet, so I feel odd using her name), a bastard of a tile cutter neighbor, and all this latest race yuckiness.

Hugs sweetness.

Didn't you once tell me that Indonesian cats have freaky big ears and the larger their ears, the better their chances of survival?  If so, Peppa may just outlive you and me!!!

Riding outside isn't much happening, piglet Andrew is just back from the states and is going again next week.  He trains the trainers over there in Kettle bells etc.  He is also training a group doing the Spartan race here on Sunday mornings so riding is out while he runs up and down mountains - sigh he is a hottie.

BUT I am no longer worried about the bike - I can't believe it, the fear is gone.  I'm training inside, in zone 2 for now.  If the weather's nice I get a little ride on the road but it's more for bike handling than anything.

Race is 11 weeks away - it's a B race so I'm training right up until race day and I'm gonna smash myself on the swim and the bike and see what falls out for the run!

Oh in addition to guilt free training, I've got guilt free computer time, that's pod time, working for Macca time and facebook time.  Not to mention reading whatever I've got which is a lot.

Oh and while on the trainer it's time to download some tv - I've never seen Arrested Development nor Breaking Bad.  Let's get that done.

And - myhouse gets cleaned, every drawer and cupboard will be done.  I'm so excited.  Oh sure I'll miss them...Embarassed

I TOTALLY get that! Now where can I send DH and 6 dogs off to for a month? Mm might be just easier to go myself

I'm so so sick of weak looking, breast implanted women modeling tri gear.  There is certainly no quicker way to alienate me from a business.

The company was started by a triathlete who's also a graphic artist - so to me, it's a win/win!

I love both of them... I need to make a decision on ONE of them though (cuz I also need to buy a few pairs of shoes... )

I like the designs on most of her pieces! My thoughts were railroaded from the tri kits (hot and sweaty) by the bikinis (wet and cool). What can I say?...it's 115* here Yell

Tru dat, double tru.

That sounds like an awesome month.  I LOVE my family, but I also love having down time--especially if it means I can thoroughly organize and clean my house.  It's a sickness.

Have a fabulous guilt free month Jo!

I am about to head off to my race.  9:00 a.m. start - but I am in Wave 5.  I should be entering the water at about 9;15.  I plan on a 28 minute swim - with transition should be on the bike at 9:45 a.m. PST.

I will be starting my live tracking app at that time.  If you want to follow my race progress - go to http://www.sportstracklive.com/

You don't need any membership or invite - my race will pop up on the home screen.  Now if a lot of people start tracking after I do - My live track will probably get pushed from the home page.  I'm not sure if you can search for my username or not (I think you can).  It's the same as my BT username.

Be warned - This race is in the mountains, and there is at least 1 pocket where I get no cell signal.  I may still work though, because the GPS feature still works when I lose cell service.

I will also start the app for my run - which should be 1:20 after the ride (if everything goes according to plan)

I am stoked - I'm going to crush this race course!

So, i went out for a 45 mile ride this morning and about 10 miles in a bug hit my mouth - almost swallowed it, and I thought "good thing that wasn't a bee".  Then contemplated how bad things would be if I swallowed a bee.  Of course, about 5 miles later a bee slammed into my face, very close to my mouth, caromed off and impaled itself into my left bicep.  It took me a few seconds before I could get it out of my arm.  By that point, it had deposited a good amount of stingy stuff into my arm.  It made for an ouchy rest of the ride.  Next ride I'm going to think about finding a lot of money and see if I can make that happen too

This is at least the 3d time i've been stung while biking - 1st time a wasp flew down the back of my top and stung me a number of times before I was able to get of the bike and rip off my shirt to get rid of it and the 2d time a bee/wasp flew into my stomach and got caught in my clothing.  That one hurt for days.

Anyway, it got me thinking about the various wildlife encounters I've had while biking. to include: being attacked and chased by geese, having to steer around gators, turkeys, deer running out in front of me, and keeping my fingers crossed that the wild pigs didn't take a dislike to me as i passed.

What type of encounters have you had?  I can't be the only one to encounter attack geese!

Gators, coyotes, bobcats, skunk, possum, armadillos, raccoon, buzzards, snakes (none poisonous yet), hogs, iguana, and the very scary squirrel encounter. I too have been stung, it bounced off my cheek and into my jersey. Stung me on the stomach, but it paid dearly! I have also been dive bombed by a hawk and buzzed by a bald eagle. The eagle was cool, it stayed above me and cruised along the same speed as me for a few seconds. That was the best one for me.

Never geese, I can only hope.

ooh, i forgot the time a squirrel ran up my leg!  I am surprised that I have not had a hawk or eagle encounter - i've seen them, just never been dived bombed or buzzed by them.  The geese encounter was my favorite - they were intense and yet, funny.  Hope you find your geese soon
